Huron -Perth Summer School Camp
of the United Church at the Gode-
rich Summer School camp this
week.
Miss Hazel'Sparling was a week-
end visitor with Mr. and Mrs. Har-
vey Sparling at the manse.
G. A. Webb, Mr. and Mrs, E. W.
Rice, attended the Brown -Webb
centennial reunion at Ferndale
Park near Brampton on Sunday.
Lodge Service. — The United
Churchi was well filled on Sunday
morning for the church serviceof
the Zion 'L.O.L. Choosing as his
subject, "The Dare of a Call," Mr.
Sparling delivered a challenging
address. The choir sang "Tru§t
,and Obey", and.Ann Todd sang the
-solo, "In the: Garden.", '
Supper.—Over 30 members of the
Y,P.U. enjoyed ,a, pot lurk supper
in the Sunday School 'moths of
the church on Friday evening. This
event concluded a contest which
has run throughout bhe year, with
the winning side captained by Mrs.
Ken Barbour. Mr. and Mrs: Sparl-
ing led in some games.

AUBURN, July 14.—Dr. Albert
S. McDowell, 81„ who died. at his
home, at Meson, Arizona,, was born
in the Maitland' Block, near Au-
burn, and. when a young ,man
taught school In .Weat ;I'Vtrawanosh
Township. He went to Detroit to
further his education, finally gradu-
ating as a medical doctor. He
practiced. at Bay -port and Turner,
Michigan, and finished his active
year as a doctor at West Branch.
Besides his widow, he is survived
by two sons, Keith, St. Johns,
Mich.;,Dr., Douglas NfeDowell, ad
ministrator of Wayne County Hos-
pital, Detroit; two brothers, Wil-
liam; and Alva McDowell, East
Wawanosh, and three sisters, Mrs.
Albert Vincent and Mrs. Josephine
Cameron, Belgrave, and -Mrs. L. R.
Blair, of Milk River, .Alta.

Michael Flick, one of the oldest
of GoderielVs eitizensi - -on-
Wednesday, July 7, In his 90th
year. Mr. Flick was born in Col-
borne Township and for mahy years
farmed on the Huron road, Gode-
rich Township, retiring 25 years
ago to live in Goderich.
His wife, the former Sarah Izzard,
died in 1950 and surviving are
three sisters and two brothers':
Mrs. Eva Schiele, of Pontiac, Mich.;
Mrs. Mary A. Wjederhold, of De-
troit, and Mrs. yeah Sheller, of
Santa Monica, Calif.; John Flick, of
Goderich, and Leslie, of London.
Two sisters, Miss Agnes Flick, of
Goderich, and Mrs. Lydia gpurgeon,
of Lake Orion, Mich., predeceased
him.
gervice at the Lodge funeral
home on Friday afternoon was
conducted by Rev. D. W. Williams,
of Victoria Street United Church,
and the interment was in Maitland
cemetery. Pallbearers were Fred
Schiele, Detroit; Frank Flick, Ben -
miller; Ralph Josling, Richard Fini-
gan, Robert Andrews and Mr.
Menzies of Goderich.
