YOUNG CANADA WEEI( GRAND
CHAMPIONSHIP TO GODERICH
When It comes to winning cham-
pionships, Goderich pee wees take
a back seat to no one. Proving
that they've got what it takes to
win, the Goderich team last Friday
night won the Grand Champiou-
ship of Yoking Canada W down-
ing the unpredictable MUvertou
crew 5-2.
But Milverton was not to be for-
gotten when it -came to hard light-
ing. Playing their seventh game
of the week and their third game
of that day, the Milverton boys
battled it out all the way.
In the game just previous to
the one with Goderich, the Milver-
ton outfit pulled the most surpris-
ing upset of four years of pee wee
hockey tournaments when they
downed the Chatham crew 4-3 in a
thrilling 10 -minute overtime game.
- Receive Trophies
By beating Milverton, Goderich
won its fourth straight game of
the week. The locals, received the
D, D. Mooney Memorial Trophy
from Mrs. Mooney and the runners
upwere presented the Kinsmen
Cub of Goderich Trophy by Presi-
dent Carl Banks.
It was little Will Gallow who
started off the scoring parade for
Goderich in the first period getting
an unassisted marker at 1.45. Just
over two minutes later Ron Huras
tied the game up, but Brian Wake -
lin put the locals ahead again at
the 6.39 mark to make the score
2-1 at the end of the first.
In the second frame, Jack Coxon
got Milverton's second and final
goal of the game and ,from then
on Goderich had everything its
own way. Gallow scored again in
the second and MacDonald and
Payne got one apiece in the third.
For Milverton, young Ken' Hoff-
man was a standout in the nets
kicking the puck out from al
angles as the Goderich kids bore
in on him. Ronnie Williamson
only one of the pee wees who play
ed on the Goderich pee wee cham-
pionship team of four years ago
was outsanding for the locals.
Goderich gained the finals by
knocking Wingham out of further
competition by an 8-2 win in an
afternoon contest.
Before the overtime win over
Chatham, Milverton eliminated
Grand Bend by a scone of 3-1.

ford by a 4-2 score after 10 min-
utes of overtime and taking the

of 5-2.
Owen Sound defeated Waterloo,
last year's grand champions by an
overwhelming 11-1 score, but lost
their second game to the powerful
Chatham squad. Although the game
between Chatham and Owen Sound
was tied 6-6 and no scoring -was
done in the overtime period, Chat-
ham took the tilt on a shots on goal
basis. Chatham outshot Owerl
Sound 34-17.
Milverton had no trouble ousting -
the Lucknow team in the final of
the C series. The two teams had
battled to a 1-1 draw Monday night
and a replay was ordered for Wed-
nesday.
Wilmot Haacke, of Goderich
Township, presented the L. E.

first period, but Wingham ,took
