The County Council on Friday
passed a resolution, moved by
Reeves J, 11. Graham and Frank
Sills asking the Legislature to con-
sider the name of Thomas Pryde,
ALL.A., when changes are made
in the cabinet.
Mr. Sills considered Mr. Pryde
would be itn asset as €i provincial
minister. He said he was speak-
ing non-politically.
No Objection
Warden Johnston felt that our
Liberal friends would have. no ob-
jection to the request.
The recommendation. of the T.eg.is-
lative'Conniittee were adopted as
follows: Concurrence in a request
from Colborne Township that Coun-
cil seek an amendment to the dog
tax and that with Howick Town-
ship to pass a bylaw closing certain
streets in 'the village of Wroxeter.
The Executive Committee brought
in It recommendation to the 1953
-Council to make a grant of $20,000
for a new wing to \Vingham hos-
pital.
A deputation had requested a
grant of $35,000 and Reeve It. 13.
Cousins and others male a strong
plea for this amount. The 48 -bed
hospital is badly overcrowded, they
said.
Finally tionotion by R. B. Qousinu
and Reeve John . Fischer, of Tut n -
berry that the recommendation to
the 1953 council give a $35,000
grant, was lost on a recorded vote
of 9.21, -
it was pointed out that over-
crowding is common in all four
hospitals in the county.
Former Representative
Stephen Stothers was invited to
address the Council. He was
Heron's first Agricultural Repre-
sentative, and left here '26 yearn;
-ago. Ile congratulated the County
on its; progress.

the County were'passed; also those
appointing Miss Eleanor „Fuller tts
stenographer -bookkeeper in the
Clerk -Treasurer's office tit $2,000
per year and appointing I).r. J.
Addison of Clinton as physician to
the county home at $850 lsr year.
At the afternoon session Coltn('11
en(lorsld the reeomtnendation of the
County Horne Committee that the
revised plan ftsr the' proposed ad-
dition to the County llotne pre-
pared by I,. G. Bridgman, of lam -
don, be approved; also that when
working drawings and specifications
are- completed the County Home
Committee be :nrthori7,c'd to Plt11
for tenders.
The estitti;tail post of the addi-
t ion isi $30(1,(100 of which the De-
partment 3513'st half.
Awaiting Approval
Mr. Bridgman boated that the
building of the addition to the
County Honte can be got intder
way this year. if, and when ap-
proval is received from the De-
partment.
The committee reported the pur-
ehase of a Bell Separator -with
extra length belts and. extension
blower for $2;450; and a row crop
Oliver tractor for $1,900.
An expression ofthanks to • th('

Snyder that the Special Committee
op the Grand Bend boundary be
given authority to protect the inter-
ests of Stephen Township.
