Mr. and Mrs. George Young and family of Langside have sold their farm and in the near future will be moving to Wingham • where Mr. Young has employ- ment with Wingfield Contractors. Mrs. Bill Willis and Mrs. Eng- land were admitted to Wingham and District Hospital on the weekend. Mrs. Andrew Gaunt is also a patient there. Mrs. Willis was transferred to a London hos- pital on MOnday. Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Emerson Mr. and Mrs. Dave Oberholtzer of St. Catharines were Saturday Knox United celebrates the 50th anniversary of union BELGRAVE --- A large crowd attended Knox United Church on Sunday for special anniversary services to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the United Church of Canada. The guest speaker in the morn- ing was Dr. W. Donald Watt of Vancouver, Superintendent of Hospitals and Medical Work for the United Church. His theme was "Looking Ahead", and he stressed that the people of the church must give priority to the right things ior a Christian life: worship, a better understanding of our faith, and service to man- kind. The choir, with Mrs. Lynda Lentz as organist and director was comprised of both junior and senior members. The junior choir's song was "Reach Out". The senior choir sang the an- them, "Praise Be to God". Young people of the church acted as ushers and s€ceived the offering. In the morning these duties were performed by Mark Taylor, Donelda Lamont, Doreen Taylor and Janice 9oultes. At the evening serviee* they were Howard Roberts, Scott Lougheed, Donald • and Chris Procter. The Belgrave Men's Choir under the direction of Rev. John Roberts with Doreen Anderson as accompanist, provided special musicfor the evening service. Everybne in the congregation joined in a rousing hymn sing. Mrs. Walter'Scott presented an interesting account Of the history of the Methodist and Presby- terian churches in the com- munity and the events leading up to their union in 1925. Lunch and a social hour were enjoyed by all at the conclusion of each of these services. evening visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Earl Jamieson. On Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Bill Evans attended the christening at Hyde Park United Church of their great-grandchild, Chris- topher Arran, son of Mr. and Mrs. Melvin, Evans, and first grand- child fon Mr. and Mrs. Eric Evans. On Sunday Mr. and Mrs. George Ross and Cheryl of Owen Sound, Mr. and Mrs. Russel Ross, Mr. and Mrs. Don Ross and family and Mr. and Mrs. Ken Ross of North Battleford held a family reunion at the home of their mother, Mrs. Robert Roes.
