ou Sunday, a special service Cele-
brating 'the centennial of the
Presbyterian Church in Canada.
Before the. service began, Terry

Iiiaroughout the church sanctu-
ary, these who were brave
enough to 'bundle up' in the
morning's heat, were attired in
the old-fashioned dress of -their
ancestors, truly caught up in the
excitement and enthusiasm of
celebrating.a.century of life. The
choir, especially, added 19th
century authenticity.by means of
their costumes, as they sang the
familiar old hymns, "Just a
Closer Walk With Thee" and "In
the Garden". Mrs. John Ostrom
and Mrs. Ed Beard were .soloists.
Rev. Robert H. Armstrong con-
ducted the' service and paid
tribute to the outstanding minis-
try of the guest speaker, Rev.
Finlay Stewart, DIM, who- -*as
also the: guest speaker when the
congregation ' of Sti Andrew's.
celebrated its centennial in 1962.
Dr. Stewart spoke of the
`exactness' of the early Presby-
terians who 'knew what they be-
lieved •and never .wavered from
that. .belief. . He ° " explained the
meanings of several doctrines
which are very often difficult to
comprehend, ,
• In -. speaking about the Holy
Spirit, Dr.. Stewart said that the
Hol Spirit la- iss'' `God where you
;are ', the :presence of Cod in our
'midst "whether ' We are going
about our daily :duties or present
at a worship service.
The- speaker then mentioned
the Kingdom -of -God, saying this
was. "a. personal feeling that the
Word and the love/ of God live in
ourown hearts. If we have the
kingdom' of Goa ; in our own
hearth,' we take. it. wherever we
go, the .teacher to :the classroom,
the factory worker to his co-
workers for it is a permanent
thing which we have received by
the grace of God. and can share
with others. .
In. speaking about conversion,
Dr. Stewart emphasized that con-
version . is not . a spur-of-the-
moment decision 1 but it must
nial servic
come with the realization
,aa loves you ,and gave His
for You'.itmept must
,one aft a Christian cow to
realize the enormous truth
t God's,redeerx tng love and fe Ja

of service.
Dr. Stewart then ,spoke
ecumenical . movement,, .stat
that the fact that we .eh00t+
belong to different church
lies should. not, in .a way,
threaten our relationship with,'
our brothers h* Christ. "its .;we
feelcomfortable and happy h
different homes without q
tioning the validity of our -neigh,
bor's home life, so it should be
within our different churc4s,"'
he said.
With a talk spiced with humor ,:
and wisdom, Dr. Stewart inspired
his congregation and left thorn
with much food for thought, Da:
