Mrs. J. Willfong
born in Wingham
Mrs. Jacob B. Willfong of 362
Elizabeth Street East, Listowel,
passed away at her residence on
Saturday, April 12, in her 60th
year.
Born on October 11, 1915, in
Wingham, Mrs. Willfong was the
former Laura Jane Groves, a
daughter of the late Earl Groves
and Isabel Schofe. She married
Mr. Willfong in Wingham on June
11, 1943, and had resided in Listo-
wel since her marriage.
Mrs. Willfong was a member of
Knox Presbyterian Church and of
the Legion Ladies' Auxiliary,
Branch 259, Listowel.
Surviving, besides her hus-
band, are three sisters, Mrs.
Charles (Norma) Westlake of St.
Catharines, Mrs. Helen Hender-
son of London and Mrs. William
(Betty) Hall of Chatham. She was
predeceased by two brothers.
The late Mrs. Willfong rested at
the Robert Trench Funeral
Home, Listowel, where service
was conducted at two o'clock on
Monday, April 14, ,by Rev.
Gordon Beaton of Knox Presby-
terian Church. Interment fol-
lowed in Fairview Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Douglas Hall,
Stanley Willfong, Clarence Zinn,
Edward Holloway and Pat
Kritzer.

Ladies' Auxiliary held a memo-
rial service on Sunday, April 13,
at seven o'clock at the funeral
home.
MUSIC IN THE HALLS was part of the educational entertainment arranged for parents
and visitors to the Wingham Public School open house Monday. "Educatign Week" was
royally launched with slides, plays and various displays.

suddenly at the Wingham and
District Hospital on Monday. The

clergyman is Larry King of Blue -
vale United Church, assisted by
Wayne Baswick of Knox Presby-
terian Church, Bluevale. Inter-
ment will follow in Harriston
Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jim
Thompson, Bob Thompson, Ray
Breckenridge, Bill White, David
White and Joe White. Jack
Thompson.and Harry Elliott will
carry floral tributes.
Mr. Lowis was born 75 years
ago in the County of Westmore-
land, England, a son of the late
John and Fanny (Clark) Lowis.
He came to Canda with his family
in 1909 and settled in the Spring-
field area, south of London. He
farmed during his early life and
more than ten years ago, he came
to Wingham where he worked on
the housekeeping staff at the
Wingham and District Hospital.
He retired in 1972.
Mr. Lowis was a member of the
United Church, a member of
Verdun Lodge O.E.S. of Aylmer
and a life member of Springfield
Lodge No. 259, AF and AM,
Surviving, are his wife, the
former Mary (Dadswell) Horton;
one daughter, Mrs. Allan (Shir-
ley) White of Bluevale; one on,
Corporal Jack H. Horton, RCMP,
Vonda, Saskatchewan; six
grandchildren and two great-
grandchildren.
Family mourns
Mrs. Wm. Orr
Mrs. William Orr of RR 3,
Teeswater, passed away at the
Wingham and District Hospital
on Friday, April 18, following- a
lengthy illness. She would have
been 88 years old next month.
Mrs. Orr was the former Mary
Abilene Jeffrey and was born and
educated in Thamesford. She was
a daughter of the late Mr. and
Mrs. William Jeffrey.
Following her marriage to Mr.
Orr, they resided in Saskat-
chewan, then returned to,Ontario
and farmed in the Langside area
until- his passing about 21 years
.ago. She continued to reside on
the farm which her '`'son is now
operating.
Left to mourn her passing are
four daughters, Mrs. John L.
(Jean) Currie and Mrs. Willis
(Jessie-) Lapp both of Wingham,
Mrs. Oswald (Dolena) Rudi of
London and Mrs. Elson (Isabel)
Arnold of Bervie; six sons, Jim of
London, Bob at home, Alex of
Montreal, Bruce and Dick of Kin-
loss Township and Ken of British
Columbia; 28 grandchildren and
ten great-grandchildren. She was
predeceased by one daughter,
Christena.
Mrs. Orr was a member of the
Langside Presbyterian Church,
the Women's Missionary Society
and the Ladies' Aid.
Funeral service was conducted
at two o'clock Monday by Rev.
Glenn Noble at the MacKenzie
Memorial Chapel, Lucknow.
Temporary entombment took
place at Seuth Kinloss Mausol-
eum. Intetinetirwill take place
later at Tiffin's Cemetery, Lang -
side.
Pallbearers were six grand-
children, Douglas Lapp, Brian
Percy, Mel Arnold, Mery Arnold,.'
Bruce Currie and Duane Currie.

Wingham for a few days.
Roy Noble was native of E. W.
A native of East Wawanosh
Township who farmed until 1965,
Roy Noble of 330 Carling Terrace,
'Wingham, died Friday, April 18,
at Goderich, following a lengthy
illness. He was in his 74th year.
Born November 28, 1901, and
educated in East Wawanosh, Mr.
Noble was a son of the late
Thomas Noble and Jane Fergu-
son. He has lived in- Wingham
since his retirement.
Mr. Noble was a member of the
Wingham United Church, the
L.O.L. No. 963 and R.B.P. -No.
1226 of Blyth:
- Surviving are his wife, the
former Janet Luella McGregor,
whom he married in Sarnia on
June 2, 1934; one daughter; Mrs.
Thos.A.Gault
dies in hose.
Thomas Alexander Gault of RR
2, Wingham, passed away at the.
Wingham and District hospital
on Friday, April 18, following a
brief illness. Hews 69.
Born in Lendond*"ey, Northern
Ireland, on January 9, 1906, Mr.
Gault's parents were Nathaniel
Gault and Jane McCausland. He
was educated in Northern Ireland
and came'to this country in 1927,
to Toronto. -where he -was em-
ployed, during his early life, as a
stock clerk. He worked as a
shipping clerk from 1949 to 1972
when he retired. He has lived in
Wingham for the past four years.
Mr. Gault, who was a member
of the Berean Gospel Chapel,4Tis
survived by his wife, the former
Eva Walker, whom he married in
Toronto on October 25, 1940; one
daughter, Mrs. Ronald (Elisa-
beth) Reynolds of Pam-
brun, Saskatchewan; and one
son, Jack Gault. at home. Also
surviving are one grand-
daughter, Rachel Elisabeth, and
two sisters, Mrs. Robert (Elisa-
beth) McCarter and Miss Jean
Gault, both of Northern Ireland.
Funeral service for the late
Thomas Gault was held Mt iday
at the R. A. Currie and soh
Funeral Home, Wingham, at 11
a.m., officiated by F. Munnings
of Clinton. Interment followed. in
Wingham Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Sam Martin,
Howard Savage, Horace Holt,
Ben Hayden, Fred Hayden and
Wilmer Bridge. Flower bearers
were Richard Carter and Orville
Welsh.
Former resident
of Wroxeter
dies in Wingham
Funeral service was held yes-
terday (Wednesday) at the Moir -
Davidson Funeral Home, Gorrie,
for Ira McLean of 174 Scott
Street, Wingham, formerly of
Wroxeter. Rev. Wesley Ball was
in charge of the two o'clock ser-
vice and interment followed in
Wroxeter Cemetery.
Mr. McLean died Sunday, April
20, at the Wingham and District
Hospital, in his 71st year. Born in
Wallace Township, he was a son
of the late John McLean and Min-
nie Wilson. For several years, he
operated a barber shop in the vil-
lage of Wroxeter, retiring about a
year ago when he moved to Wing -
ham. He was a member of the
United Church and the Wroxeter
branch of the Masonic Lodge.
Mr. McLean was predeceased
by lila wife, the former Edith
Earls. He is survived by one son,
Murray of Tara ; two daughters,
Mrs. Dion (Donna) Gibson of
Monkton and Mrs. Ken (Marilyn )
Collier of London ; and four
grandchildren. Also surviving
are one brother and two sisters.
He was predeceased by one
brother, Jack.
Wray (Valdeane) Gedcke of
Wingham; and two sisters, Mrs.
Bert (Hazel) Wiggins of Brant-
ford and Mrs. Clarence (Bir-
detta) Rath of Belgrave.
The Iate Roy Noble rested at
the R. A. Currie and Son Funeral
Home, Wingham, where Rev. K.
Barry Passmore conducted
funeral service at two o'clock on
Monday. Interment will follow in
Brandon Cemetery, Belgrave.
Honorary pallbearers were
Mbo Casemore, Athol Bruce,
George Bailey, Calvert Falconer,
Robert Hibberd and Harold
Webster. Active pallbearers'were
George Grigg, Leonard James,
Henry, Pattison, Arnold Bruce,
Tom Johnston and Nelson Patter-
son. Floral tributes were carried
by Norman McDowell, Alvin
Moffatt and Charles Shiell.
A service under the auspices of
L.O.L. No. 963, and R.B.P. No.
1226, Blyth Lodges, was held in
the funeral home Sunday evening
at nine.
Donations are being accepted
for the work of the Canadian
Cancer Society.

Passed away at her home in
Teeswater on Monday, April 21,
Ann King, beloved daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. George King. -
Born in Wingham 24 years ago,
Ann was educated in Teeswater
and had resided at home with her
parents all her life.
Surviving are her father and
mother, the former Frances
Brophy of Wingham; four sisters,
Patty and Mary of London, Juli-
anne and Helen at home; and her
maternal grandmother, Mrs.
Joseph Brophy of Wingham. She
was a member of Sacred Heart
Roman Catholic Church, Tees- 1
water.
The late Ann King rested at the
MacPherson Funeral Chapel,
Teeswater, until Wednesday,
thence to Sacred Heart Roman
Catholic Church where service
was held at 10:30 a.m. Tem-
porary entombment took place in
Teeswater Cemetery Chapel. Her
final resting place will be Sacred
Heart Cemetery, Teeswater.

The death occurred in Wing -
ham and District Hospital on
Wednesday, April 16, of Albert
Harris of Holyrood, aged 67
years. Death followed a lengthy
illness.
Born in London, Mr. Harris
was a son of the late William R.
Harris and Mabel White. He had
farmed in Culross Township for a
number of years.
Surviving are his wife, the.
former Mary Agnes Switzer; five
sons, Charles Albert (Bert) of
Teeswater, Robert of Bluevale,
Raymond of Kinloss, Laverne
and Tom at home; three
daughters, Mrs. Joe (Susan)
Dillon of Wingham, Marion of
Brussels and Mrs. Rod (Jean)
Furness of Whitechurch. There
are 12 grandchildren, five
brothers and one sister.
Funeral service was held Fri-
day at two o'clock at the Mac-
Pherson Funeral Chapel, Tees -
water, conducted by Rev. Gerald
Thompson of Knox Presbyterian
Church. Interment will take
place in Teeswater Cemetery.
