Twenty-one games were played
over the long weekend, with Oak-
ville capturing the championship
in the 'A' class and Dresden on
top in 'C' Championship finals.
Goderich won the 'A' Consolation
Finals and Clinton skated away
With top place in the 'C' Consola-
tion Finals.
Final scores in the 'C' category
games were: Friday, Harriston

Club, and Al Harrison, tournament co-ordinator. The
Goderich team battled Merriton to a 4-4 tie in regulation
time, then scored the winning goal with 3:25 left in overtime
for a final score of 5-4.

wins bonspiel
A curling rink from Listowel
captured the Crawford Trophy
Wednesday at the Ladies' Curling
Bonspiel. J. H. Crawford present-
ed the trophy to skip Joanne
Dahl, vice Marlene !kitten, sec-
ond Joan Hemsworth and lead,
Joan Rutherford. They were also
the winners of the 11 o'clock
draw. Second -place winners in
the 11 o'clock draw was the rink
skipped by Shirley Lamont of
Teeswater. Helen McKague's
Teeswater rink was in third
place, with Anna Goodall's rink
in fourth.
A Wingham rink with skip
Edith Rathbun, vice Jean Hil-
bert, second Ene McGregor and
lead, Marilyn Wood, placed first
in the 9 -o'clock draw, while the
Goderich rink skipped by Bernice
Moore placed second. Nora Ste-
phenson of Brussels skipped the
third-place rink, with Anna Cun-
ningham's Seaforth rink in fourth
place.

YBC Bowling
The Wingham YBC was well -
represented in provincial finals
held in Toronto Saturday and
Sunday with Kerry Thompson as
Bantam Girl and Jay MacLaurin
as Junior Boy zone champs bowl-
ing in the finals for a chance to go
on to the national finals in Cal-
gary.
In Junior Bantam play, the
Peanuts are ahead with 79 points,
followed by the Chips with 71 and
the Popcorns with 59. The Cheez-
ies are closing fast with 58, and
the Popsicles have 48,followed by
the Toffies with 46.
Joanne Henry, captured both
high single and double with
scores of 127 and 226, respec-
tively. Tim Stainton scored high
single for the boys with 198, while
Stephen Gaunt is high double at
324. High scores over 125 were:
Stephen Gaunt, 188, 136; Donald
Casemore, 144; Kevin Smith, 127;
Billy Gaunt, 126; Phillip Rintoul,
137; and Byron Thompson, 183.
Fourteen Junior Bantams receiv-
ed their "I Beat My Average"
crests last week.
Bantam star la t week in the
girls' division was Andrea Bridge
as high single and double winner
with 194 and 326, respectively.
Robbie Grove for the boys won
high single honors with 169, while
Daryl Holmes and Greg Storey
tied for high double with 307 each.
Other games over 150 were: Deb-
ra Wittig, 174; Kerry Thompson,
164; Daryl Holmes, 168; Blair
Mansell, 164; Brad Gerrie, 157;

have completed their part in the
tournament, and ,a further
inundation of the arena starts
next week with the VB' and 'u'

An innovation tome arena is a
skate sharpener which has been
used to good advantage so far
since its installation Just a week
ago.
Lacrosse
Lacrosse registration will be
held at the arena Wednesday,
March 20. Registration forms will
be distributed at schools Monday,
March 24. Anyone ,:interested in
coaching a minor lacrosse team
is asked to contact Jack Goodall,
Bruce Griffin or Jim Ward.
Belmore teams
in hockey action
BELMORE On Friday,
March 14, the Before Squirts
defeated East Howick by a score
of 10-4.
The Belmdre Squirts were very
successful in the tournament at
Flesherton on Saturday, March
15. They demoted Rocklyn by a
score of 12-0.
The Belmore PeeWees lost to
West Howick on March 12, by a
score of 18-5. Larry O'Malley, Ray
Willits, Don Busby, David Eadie
and Kenton Schaefer each got one
goal.
On March 14, the Belmore
PeeWees were successful in
defeating West Howick by a score
of 9-1. "'Murray Mawhinney got
three goals, Larry O'Malley two,
Jeff Mulvey two and Ray Willits
and Don Busby, one each.
The Midgets were victorious
over Kurtzville on March 13 by a
score of 6-4. Paul Gorell got two
goals, Kevin Haskins, Jim
Mawhinney, Paul Dickson and
Jeff Dickson each w,l one goal.
The Belmore Midgets defeated
Iurtzville on March 14 by a score
of 3-2. Kevin !Haskins, Brian
Fischer and Ken Fischer each got
one goal.

Team, beams with joy as he'accepts congratulations from
referee Bruce Griffin on being chosen the "Most Valuable
Player" in the 'A' class. Only a short while previously, he
had accepted a trophy for his team as cIrampions in the 'A'
class finals at the Wingham Midget Hockey Tournament
Monday night.
PeeWees sweep
semi-finals
BELGRAVE — The Belgrave
PeeWees won back to back vic-
tories laAt Wednesday and Thurs-
day night to take the best two of
three series, winning two games
straight over East Howick. The
scores were 5-0 and 10-4.
The PeeWees ended the Tri -
County League schedule in
second place with 15 wins, four
1ossps and ,one tie game. During
the 20 game schedule plus four
exhibition games and two play-
off games, Belgrave has, scored
198 goals while allowing only 74.
Belgrave played at Goderich in
the Young Canada Tournament
on Wednesday, against Bath,
