Thursday, January 30, at the S. J.
Walker Funeral Home, Patrick
Street, for Mrs. Thomas Mc-
Michael of Wingham. Rev, Barry
Passmore officiated at two
o'clock. Interment followed in the
Wroxeter Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Eldred
Cathers, Everett Cathers, Fred
Lewis, Glenn McMichael, Ron
McMichael and Raymond Neill.\
Lloyd Montgomery carried floral
tributes.
Mrs. McMichael died Tuesday,
January 28, at Brookhaven Nurs-
ing Home, following a three-week
illness. She was in her 94th year.
Born in Howick Township, she
was the former Elizabeth Ellen
Cathers, a daughter of the late
Jacob and Jane Cathers. She was
educated at S.S. No. 1, Howick
Township.
On February 10, 1904, : she
married -Mr. McMichael in Bel -
more. He _predeceased her on
October 18, 1945, and she came to
Wingham from Wroxeter in 1954.
She was a member of the Wing -
ham United Church.
Surviving are two daughters,
Mrs. Edgar (Eva) Stafford of
Port Burwell and 'Mrs. Jim
(Georgina) Mitchinson of
Niagara Falls., Ontario. There
are four grandchildren and two
great-grandchildren.

John Eldon White of the village

year following a short illness.
-Born in Tuckersnaith Township,
he was the son of Mr. and Mrs.
Robert White. He attended school
in Tuckersmith Township.
In 1924 he married the former
Mary Readman and spent 36
years farming in Grey and
Morris Townships. A very suc-
cessful farmer, he jnoved from
the fifth of Morris to retire in the
village of Brussels in 1960. Here
he led a very active life doing
carpentry work and enjoyed
being a handyman for others. He
belonged to the Brussels United
Church.
Surviving, besides his wife
Mary, are daughters, Mrs. Ken
(Doris) Fischer of Grey Town-
ship, Mrs. David (Fern) Craven
of London, and sons, Clarence of
Morris Township, Ross of London
and Ken of Brussels. There are 24
grandchildren and four great
grandchildren. Two sons, John
and Bruce, predeceased him in
infancy; also one grandson,
Jackie White, predeceased -him in
1973. Also surviving is one
brother, Robert of St. Thomas.
Rev. Eric LeDrew conducted
service at the M. L. Watts
Funeral Home on Thursday,
January 30, with interment in
Brussels Cemetery. Pallbearers
were Gerald Gibson, Jack Hall,
James McTaggart, Bill McArter,
Don McArter and Watson Shol-
dice all of Brussels. Flower
bearers were Jack Yuill, Frank
Carter and John McArter of
Brussels. •

died on Sunday
Clayton Robert Shackleton, 58,
32 Coachwood Road, Brantford,
died at the John Noble Home, on
Sunday, Jan. 26.
Mr. Shackleton was on the
teaching staff of Wingham Dis-
trict High School from 1959-1961.
He was an active member of
`Wingham United Church while he
resided in Wingham.
He is survived by his wife, the
--dormer Wilma Willows, and three
!children, Robert of Toronto, Mrs.

Calgary; - Mrs. Gary (Patricia)

Mr. Shackleton is also survived

(Jack) Fowler of 68 Fairview
Crescent, Woodstock, and for-
merly of Bluevale, in his 67th
year. Survived by his wife, the
former Ruth - Shugg; sons, Dr.
Peter Fowler of London; Ken-
neth Fowler of Toronto; daugh-
ter, Miss Jaclyn Fowler of Lon-
don; and four grandchildren;
also one sister, Mrs. Jack (Isa-
bel) Sinclair of Islington. A
brother, George, predeceased
him .in 1965. The late Mr.
Fowler rested at the F. E.

MVCA gets
$1 1,000 grant
for Saratoga
The Hon. Leo Bernier, minister
of Natural Resources, announces
the approval of a provincial grant
of $11,000 to the Maitland Valley
Conservation Authority for the
Saratoga Conservation Area.
This conservation area
presently comprises some 357
acres of land in the Township of
West Wawanosh, County of
Huron.
In keeping with the Authority's
established program of acquiring
land in the Saratoga Swamp
area, the Authority proposes to
acquire an additional -100 acres in
the Township of West Wawanosh
for the enlargement of this
conservation area.
The proposed acquisition is
primarily swamp forest with
cedar, hemlock, swamp maple
and some white pine comprising
the bulk of the forest species.
Sharp's Creek traverses the
south-west corner of the
pproperty.
All member municipalities will
bear the Authority's share of the
cost.,,
