On Sunday evening the same
boys came home from Durham
with a64 win over the tough Dur-
ham club.

han line scored five of the six
goals in this one with the sixth
going to Bruce (Clhucker) Le -
Van.
Mount Forest is back in Wing -
ham this Thursday night at eight
o'clock for a retinrn match.

Wingham figure skaters cap-
tured one first lace, three
seconds .• and two thirds in area
competition last week. Members
of the Wingham Figure Skating
Club took part hi the Great Lakes
Winter Skating Festival in Lon-
don, January 18 and 19 and got a
big share of the prizes out of 487
total entries in competition.
Carol Wheeler won _ first place
in the Flight A, Pre -Novice Sing-
les; Blaine Moore captured
second place in the Flight D,
Juvenile Singles; and April
Moore and Danny Gordon won
second place in the Pre -Novice
Dance competitions. Lori Gavre-
luk in Preliminary Ladies' and
Mark Moore in • Preliminary
Men's skating competition placed

Howick hockey
hard - hitting
FORDWICH -.- It was a good
week for Howick hockey teams as
they took to the ice and chalked
up a few wins. -
In Tyke action, East Howick
defeated Kurtzville 6-2. In a close
game, the Belgrave Squirts edg-
ed East Howick 4-3. West Howick
Squirts didn't have as many
problems with Belmore as they
came out oh top of a 7-4 score.
The PeeWees were on the ball
all week; West Howick lambast-
ed Brussels 11-3 and East Howick
smartened up Kurtzville • to the
tune of 6-5.
In Bantam action the West
Ho -wick lads were on the winning
end of a 4-2 score but Howick
East boys were trampled by 13e1 -
more 10-2.
Drayton Juveniles came from
that village to win a nice one over
the Howick team; resulting score
was 10-8. And in another tight
'one, Howick edged Harriston 6=5.
The Howick Intermediates de-
feated Floradale 5-2. -
In recreational hockey, the
Fordwich Rockets sent,, Lakelet
home weeping over a .6-2 score.
And in exhibition play, the West
Howick Squirts defeated Wing -
ham 3-0.

Gord Kinahan
fires hat trick
Gord Kinahan led the Wingham
Kinsmen Bantams to a 7 to 2
victory over the Exeter Bantams
in an exhibition game played in
the Wingham Arena on Friday
night.
After one period, it was 2-1 for
the home club, with markers go-
ing to Gord Kinahan and Rick
MacLennan.
In the second, Dave Kieffer
scored two and `Tom McLean
netted one, with Exeter scoring
their.second and final goal.
Gord Kinahan notched two in
the third for his hat trick.
The Wingham Kinsmen Ban-'
tams travel to Durham on
Wednesday and are at home .to
Kincardine on Friday night at
seven in the Wingham Arena.

win , lose some
BELMORE — On Wednesday
of last week, the Belgrave Tykes
defeated the elmore Tykes with
a score of 3-2. Belmore goal -
getters were Tom Inglis and
Keith Harper.
In a game between the West
Howick Squirts and the Belmore
lads on Friday., the local boys
went down to defeat 6-4. Allan
Kieffer got two goals, Rob Hel-
fenstein 1 and Keith Rutherford 1.
�=•On January 21, Belmore Pee-
WeeS defeated Belgrave 8-5.
Goal getters were Kenton Schaef-
er 3; Doug Busby 2; Don Busby 2
and Dave Eadie 1. The same local
boys doubled the score of East
Howick and were on the winning
end of a 6-3 score on Friday. Mur-
ray Mawhinney got 2 goals;
Larry O'Malley, Don Busby, Ray
Willits and Kenton Schaefer with
1 apiece.
Murray was the star of the
show Saturday when the Pee-
Wees beat Forest 9-5. He knocked

In Junior Bantam, Tim Stain-
ton bowled both high single and
high double scores for the boys
with 143 and 272. Julaine Adams
bowled high single with 156, and
Sheri Walden scored the high
double for girls with 259 and
bowled the only other high girls'
score at 153. Scoring over 125 for
the boys were Billy Gaunt, 125;

The House League played two
games last week, :Walden's "Blue
Machine" taking on Stainton's
"Red Shirts" and Marks' "Jolly
Green Giants" going against
IGA's "Salmon Canners".
The action was furious as • Wal-
den's and Stainton's battled• to a
4 -all tie. Blair Bushell scored a
pair for Stainton's and Stan `The
Man' Stapleton and Steve `Tuber'
MacKay each captured singles.
Herb Kenyon nailed a pair for
Walden's and Mike Beattie and
Bruce. Stainton each drove in
singles.
Good goal -tending by Ron
Johnston and John O'Hagan kept
the score even.
The second game, played Fri-
day night, saw a very good first.

Wingham ink
wins trophy
The Winning team in the 11
o'clock draw also captured ,the
coveted Dr. Murray MacLennan
trophy in .the curling bonspiel
Saturday. The winning rink was
skipped by Mac MacKay with
Norman Rude as lead, Jim Ward
in second and Hugh Clugston as
vice.
• Winners of the nine o'clock
draw were: first, rink skipped by
Redmond MacDonald; second,
rink skipped by Jack Bowman of .
Brussels; third, rink skipped by
Roy Pennington. Consolation
prize winner, Bob Ruttan's rink.
Runners-up in the 11 o'clock draw
were the rink skipped by Ron Mc
Kague in second place and the

third place. A consolation prize
was awarded to John Brownridge
of Clinton.
