The tickets weren't expensive,
it wasn't a busy evening en-
tertainment -wise, and the two
groups are sufficiently big-time
to draw crowds in almost every
other town or city. So why were
most of the 300 seats empty?
But back to the show. Despite
technical difficulties, a 45 -minute
late start, low-key intrusions of
CKNX over the loudspeakers and

like the rag -time "Stealin' " and
Rolling Stones hit "Ruby Tues-
day" and original songs by lead
guitarist and vocalist Billy Kell.
The undisputed hits were
"Cherie's Wedding Song", a
simple but eloquent pseudo -rock,
and an old jug -band song called
"That's When I'll Come Back to
You", A washboard and kazoo
rendition of "Five -Foot -Two,
Eyes of Blue" rounded out the
first half.
The mood of part two was in
lower gear but friendlier, with
invitations to the audience to
move in closer, join in the singing
