In a night robbery, thieves
gained entrance into the second
floor of King's store and made
away with 92 men's suits, two
overcoats and 75- ladies' dresses.
Entrance was gained by a second
storey window at.athe southwest
corner at the back of the store.
Newlyweds Mr. and Mrs. Peter

have been prevalent in and near
the village of Fordwich, but dur-
ing the past week the disease has
become epidemic, with the result
that the Medical Officer of Health
ordered both local schobls closed
and the cancellation of all Christ-
mas entertainment in the village.

On Tuesday after the third
draw, the Wingham Curling Rink
was officially opened and dedi-
cated. President Art Irwin was in
charge of the ceremony. Jack
Reavie, Mayor of the town, ex-
tended the best wishes of Town
Council.
T. Burke, A. Coutts, John Mc-
Lean, Dr. MacLennan and E. S.
Lewis were among those elected
officers of the Lebanon Chapter
at its annual meeting.
Ralph Pearson of Brussels was
the winner of the large turkey at
Huron Motors on Friday. The
draw was made by F. L. David-
son.
Rev. A. Nimmo installed the of-
-ficers of the Goforth Evening
Auxiliary of St. Andrew's at its
December meeting. President *is
Mrs. J. Donaldson and she will be
assisted by Mrs. M. Rae, Mrs. N.
Welwood, Miss A. Williamson
and Miss B. Norman.
At the annual commencement
exercises by the students of
Wingham High School, scholar-
ships were presented to Alice
Laidlaw; Mac Eadie, Bodie Craig
and William Johnston. Field Day
athletic awards were won by
James Cummins,, John Hanna,
Keith Anderson, Janet Gerrie,
Mary Smith and Annette Camp-
bell. John Hanna was named the
best athlete in the school. Alice
Laidlaw was valedictorian.
Through the combined efforts
of the Women's Missionary
Society, the Sunday School and
members of the congregation, the
Gerrie United Church Sunday
School has a new projector. Next
Sunday they will see the Christ-
mas story in picture form
through the use of their new ma-
chine.
Ivan McArter has been named
Road Superintendent by mem-
bers of Morris Township Council,
at a salary of 75 cents per hour
plus $10.00 per month for book-
keeping.
Wingham turned in $725. from
the sale of Christmas seals up to
December 19. From Brussels,
Howick, Clinton, Goderich, Sea -
forth, Wingham, Exeter, Zurich
and Blyth, the total raised is
$4066. for this worthy cause.
