found himself faced with a grease
fire and quickly took this advice.
The grease splattered causing
the fire to,spread and also inflict-
ing burns serious enough to cause
the hospitalization of the victim.
Tests were made on the- effect-
iveness of the soda to stop fires.
These tests proved that even be-
fore the oil reached ignition tem-
perature the soda caused the oil
to explode. After the tests the
company agreed to alter the
statement on their label to read:
"Keep a box,of baking soda near
your stove. Sprinkle handfuls on n
grease and electrical fires to
smother flames. Do not use in
deep fat fires."
The consumer should read the
instructions on every product he
buys.
As you worship with
your family at Christmas,
may the true spirit of the
season greatly bless you.
Sincerely, we extend our
greetings.

Assembly
On Wednesday, Dec. 18, a
Christmas assembly was held for
all students. The assembly
apened with a skit based on the
wakening of toys at Christmas.
A play entitled "The Christmas
Santa Caught a Cold" followed. A
series of "Letters to Santa" were
read by Jim Wellwood. The
closing number was a choir con-
sisting of the Grade 13 classes.
They sang "The Little Drummer.
Boy" and "Silver Bells" and then
everyone joined the choir in the
singing of "Hark, the Herald
Angels Sing", "Deck the Halls"
and "Silent Night".

Traditions play a most import-
ant role in the holiday feeling.
Old familiar carols, candies, col-
ors, greens, smells, and sights
associate themselves forever
with Christmas. 'Yet new tradi-
tions are established every
Christmas season which are as
much a part 1 of the feeling as
that of the timeless tree. Just
as the colonial lady chose new
foods and decorated with greens,
the • modern lady selects bright
new colors and appealing recipes.
No matter what the century the
holiday feeling belongs to Christ.
