Gwen Norris, the director of patient care, congratulates her for her service to the hospital. Miss Carr worked at the lhospita l from 1943 to 1955 and from 1962 to 1974. (Staff Photo) 1 Mrs. James Coultas to head United Church Women in 1975 BELGRAVE — The final meeting of the United Church Women for 1974 was held on November 26 in the church base- ment. President Mrs. Ross Anderson oenectthe Meeting by reading=a poem entitled, "Se 'day of Love". The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved and the treasurer's re- port given. Mrs. William Coultes was asked to report on the October calendars which had been given out to the members. The correspondence was read which consisted of some appeals , for financial assistance. It was decided to send extra with the allocation and also to sponsor a delegate from the Hi -C to Toc Alpha during the Christmas holi- days. olidays. Donations are to be sent as well to the Victor Home for Women in Toronto, The Overseas Blanket Fund, to buy blakets and the local Salvation Army to help supply Christmas needs in Huron County. Several year end reports were given. Mrs. James Coultes, re- porting for the social committee, reminded the ladies of the busy yeat they had with several wed- dings and other functions. Mrs. Willard Armstrong reported there had been five large boxes of good used clothing packed and sent to the London Mission Ser- vice. The secretary then reported on the five general meetings held during 1974. Mrs. Anderson reminded the ladies that 1975 is' the 50th an- niversary of the United Church and that they should be thinking of some special event to celebrate the occasion. The Huron -Perth, Presbytertalmteeting=,is tti be held in Trinity .United Church, Listowel, on February 26. The offering was received and dedicated. Conducted by Rev. and Mrs. Robert Armstrong, the devotions were based on scripture from the first chapter of John's Gospel, concerning Andrew becoming a disciple. Mr. Armstrong com- mented on St.. Andrew's Day and its traditions and the flag of St. Andrew was on display. The minutes were read by Mrs. Niergarth and the roll called by Clare Niergarth, recording a good attendance. The Cradle Roll report was given by Mrs. Fred McGee. Further plans were discussed for the Schneider Male Chorus who will present a program on April 2 in St. Andrew's Church, Wingham, sponsored by the Couples' Club as' its centennial project. Mrs. Jack Townshend led in a singsong with Mrs. Wallace Richardson at the piano. Mr. and Mrs. Townshend then showed pictures of their recent tour of the southwestern United States. After an interesting contest on professions and occupations, lunch was served by the com- mittee in charge. The next meet- ing will be held Wednesday, December 18, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. G'irdon Wall. Molesworth WMS GORRIE — The Molesworth Women's Missionary Society held its November meeting at the home of Mrs. George Mac- Donald. Mrs. Lloyd Felker, president, opened with a poem on peace and offered prayer. Roll call was answered by 18 ladies on peace. Mrs. John Freeman was in charge of the program and told of Armistice Day in Holland where people still visit the graves and place flowers. Candles were lit for peace by Mrs. Tindall, Mrs. McKercher, Mrs. Andrew Henderson, and Mrs. Melvin Dennis. Others taking part in the meeting were Mrs. Bennett Mit- chell, Mrs. J. prush, Mrs. Wes Moore and Mrs. George Mac- Donald. The Christmas meeting will be 04held at the home of Mrs. John reeman on Dec. 11. inating committee, Mrs. Earl Anderson and Mrs. James Coultes; auditors, Mrs. George Michie and Mrs. Willard Arm- strong. Those taking part were Mrs. Cliff Logan, Mrs. William Coul- tes, Mrs. Laura Johnston-, Mrs. Lawrence Taylor, Mrs. James Coultes, Mrs. Leslie Bolt, and\ Mrs. John Kerr. Mrs. Murray Lougheed con- ducted the worship service assisted by Mrs. Willard Arm- strong, the theme being "Hope". "Silent Night" was sung and the scripture from Hebrews 6:9- 19 were read by Mrs. Armstrong. A short meditation pertaining to the theme of the worship was given by Mrs. Lougheed follow- ing which she led in prayer. "Hark the Herald Angels Sing" was sung and Mrs. Lougheed dosed with a benediction.
