line at Lloyd -Truax Ltd. when three box ciqrs, which werebeing shunted farther down the

The change in seasonal 'condi-,
tions last week kept the Wingham
detachment of the OPP busy with
at least 15 road accidents being
reported.
David. Rosart of RR 4,
Wingham was taken to Wingham
and District Hospital last Wed-
nesday following a single car
accident on Sideroad 15-16, south
of the CNR tracks in Morris Twp.
Mr. Rosart's car left the east side
of the road and slammed into a
mailbox, then swerved across the
road, rolled over and,came to rest
,`ina field. The hospital de elinvd,to
release any information • about
Mr. Rosart's injuries or his con-
dition. OPP officers have set
damage estimates to the Rosart
car at $3,000.
Also on Wednesday, Edward
Bauer of Wingham was involved •
in a single car accident on Hwy.
86, east of Huron County Road 22.

not hurt in the accident and es-
timated the damages at5400. No
other information has been re-

she was driving ran off Morris
Concession 3, east of Hwy. '' 4,
through a ditch and collided with
a tree on Thursday. There have
been no reports of injuries and

Concession 5-6. Police report that
Mr. Robertson's car left the road
andhit a tree. Damages were
estimated at $800.
A single car accident did an
estimated $190 damage'to a car
driven by Robert Brandon of RR
2, Teeswater on Thursday. Mr.
Brandon's car apparently went
out of control and spun off the
road, hitting a sign post on Hwy.
4, south of the Maitland River
bridge ip East Wawanosh Twp.
Mr. Brandon was not hurt in the
•accident.
Thursday was also a bad day
for Paul Gerber of St. Clements.
Police say that Mr. Gerber lost
control of his car on Hwy. 86, east
of the Maitland River bridge in
Grey Twp. His car skidded off the
road and struck a post. About
$300 damage was done to his car:
No one was hurt in a collision
involving Harvey Sewers of RR 3,
Walkerton and Murray Edgar of
Wingham on Thursday. Their
cars collided on Hwy. 4, north of
the CPR spur line crossing in
Turnberry Twp. Damages were
set at $500.
A single car accident sent
Karen Weber of Walkerton to
Wingham and District Hospital
for examination Thursday after
her car hit a tree on Hwy. 4, south
of the Maitland River bridge in
East Wawanosh Twp. The hospi-
tal has issued no reports con-
cerning her injuries but did say
she was released later. Investi-
gating police officers estimated
damage at $1,000.
On Friday, William Goldring of
Chatham was involved in a single
car accident on Hwy. 86, east of
the CNR crossing in Turnberry
Twp. Investigating police officers
report that the Goldring car ran
through the north ditch near the

roadway and struck a fence. The
accident resulted in about $175
damages.
RR 1, Wingham •resident
George Underwood struck a
fence on Friday while he was
driving on County Road 30, south
of Howick Concession 6-7. Police
set damages at $650.
Evelio Thornton of Listowel
was northbound on County Road
28, when her car skidded off the
roadway Friday and collided
'• with a vehicle owned by David
Burbridge of Corrie. ' The Bur-
-bridge'velricIe was ar1r d� n -the
east' shoulder of the road. ')'here
were • no injuries and damages
' have been estimated at $400.
Bruce Hamer of Hamer Bay
was not hurt in an accident that
did an estimated $300 damage to
his car. Mr. Hamer is reported to
have lost control of his car which
ran into a ditch and rolled over.
The accident occurred some-
where on County Road 25.
Police say that Harry Barber of
Guelph was the driver involved in
a $500 property damage accident
sorhewhere on Hwy. 9 last Fri-
day. His car ran off the road into
a ditch and hit a tree.
On Saturday, Walter Hecke of
RR 4, Brussels slammed into the
rear of a car belonging to
Kenneth Rutledge which was
parked on Mill St. in Brussels.
The Rutledge vehicle was in turn
pushed into the back of a second
parked car belonging to Donald
McCall. Nearly $2,900 in damages
resulted from the collision.
On Sunday Archibald Mason of
Blyth\ and Helen Hetherington of
RR 3, Brussels were involved in a
two -car collision on County Road
12, north of Concession 6-7 near
Brussels. Mr. Mason was taken to
Wingham and District Hospital
but was later discharged follow-
ing an examination. About $1,200
damage was reported by investi-
gating OPP officers.

attended a family get-together
held Sunday in honor of Mrs.
Hogg's grandmother, Mrs. John
Campbell of Walton who cele-
brated her 90th birthday on
November 15. More than 60 at-
tended, among them Mrs. Camp-
bell's two daughters, two sons,
grandchildren and great-grand-
children.

Reference was made to Mrs;
Rose Kennedy's book, "A Time to
Remember", as , well as other
-outstanding authors of history,
geography, fiction, non-fiction,
poetry and children's books. •
"There is no greater gift than
the love of adventure in reading,"
said Mrs. Eadie.
Mrs. Eldon Renwick, local li-
brarian, told of the history of the
Belmore library which originated
in 1930.
To further encourage the read,
ing of ,books, she agreed to open
the library before and after the
Institute meetings, in addition to
the regular hours on Saturdays.
The 4-11 girls and their leaders
will be guests at the December
meeting.

Mr. and Mrs. Luther of Hensall
led the Sunday evening song ser-
vice sponsored by the South Hur-
on Christian Women's Club.
Thirty residents from the
ground floor north and centre
areas were guests on Tuesday
evening of the Clinton Kinettes.
The event was held in the Clinton
Public School and included an
evening of games with dessert
and coffee. The Kinettes have
adopted the residents from these
two areas as Grandmothers and
they are .entertained several
times during the year by the club.
The Over 90 Club met on
Wednesday afternoon in the first
floor north sitting room. -Twenty-
six members were able to attend
and enjoyed a short program
consisting of a sing song, read-
ings by Mrs. McGratton and
piano instrumentals by a guest of
the club, Mrs. McAsh. Members
of the Walkerton Club and in-
dividual volunteers assisted with
activities and helped to serve tea
and cookies provided by the kit-
chen staff.
Mr. and Mrs. Edgar of Atwood
arranged the Family Night pro-
gram with Rev. Thomas introd-
ucing the numbers and giving two
readings. Lawrence Edgar and
Viggo Sorenson played several
violin selections, accompanied at
the piano by Mrs. Edgar. Coleen
Edgar displayed some fine step
dancing, accompanied by her
parents, and the entertainers
were thanked by Mrs. Hull on be-
half of the residents.
