The province has tried to limit
the growth in hsopital operating
costs through ceilings for the past
five years. In 1973 it imposed a
tough 5 per cent growth limit and
tried to hold them in 1974 to an
increase of 7.9 per cent. The
ceiling broke down mainly
because of wage settlements
during the year, and will end up
more like 20 per cent according. to
Health Minister Frank Miller.

ney general in relation to the
Supreme Court of Canada deci-
sion to award $30,000 to a snow-

private property. The law has
generally assumed that the tres-
passer shall not benefit from the
trespass.
The attorney general replied
that legislation is currently being
studied to cope with this ,situ-
ation, and it will be introduced
when ready.
Ontario Health Minister Frank
Miller has guaranteed that the
government would not raise
Ontario Health Insurance pre-

Government's fiscal year runs
froin April ist to March 31st.
Ontario's five medical schools
rejected 14 applicants for every
student admitted this year,
according to James Auld, Mini-
ster of Colleges and Universities.
The five medical schools had a
total of 8,733 applications for an
available number of first year
positions of 582.

buildings, one belonging to Moses

Renus Bailey because both build-

In order to meet the new Canadian exhaust

control device that requires the use of more
expensive unleaded gasoline:

All Ford of Canada
carines have been
engineered to run on
any gasohne and meet the
new 1975 Canadan emission
control standards without
requiring catalytk converters.
There's a significant difference between Canada
and the United States in exhaust emission standards
for 1975 cars.
The Canadian Govternment-decided to adopt
more reasonable emission standards than those in
the United States. which meant that catalytic
converters were not necessary to meet the Canadian
standards.
.- So for 1975. Ford of Canada decided not to
follow suit with Ford irithe United States —
although it would have been much- easier (and less
costly) to do so.
• Ford of Canada's decision to minimizethe
need for catalytic converters in Canada shows our
real concern for you, the motorist.
We decided to offer cars without catalytic
converters because a) a catalytic converter could
be an extra expense for you. h) the unleaded fuel
that's required for catalytic converters is in limited
supply in Canada. and. c) unleaded gasoline is
more C% pensive than the lower priced regular.
—Now in order to meet the 1975 Canadian
exhaust. emission standards. without the use of
catalytic converters. Ford of Canada invested over
S1 million in an extensive program involving
significant engineering changes. additional com-
plexity in our assembly plants and other special
programs.
lhe result is that all engines (with the
exception of one the optional 2.8 litre V6). for
all 1975 lines of Ford of Canada cars. meet the
standards. ‘t,k ithout requiring catalytic converters.
and do so while running on any gasoline — unleaded.
preniium or the lower priced regtilar.
Ford of Canada feels that this will mean a lot
to motorists who are not able to find unleaded
gasoline in their normal driving and fuel -shopping
patterns. Particularly. those who live in rural areas.
or are travelling to the cottage or -ski slopes where
unleaded gasoline availability is substantially less
than major urban centre's.
any gasoline. anywhere, a number of features,
which we call "EconOmy Extenders", have been
engineered intaevery 1975.Ford of Canada carline.
These include: • Solid state ignition that eliminates
the points and condenser and improves fuel
economy overlong periods due to a more stable
spark plug performance • Improved engine tuning
on many engines which results in better fuel
economy and performance • Optimized rear axle
ratios thpt contribute to less engine wear and lower
fuel consutnptiorl by proper matching to load and
use requirenients • Steel -belted radial tires that
extend tread life and reduce rolling friction for
better gas mileage.
In addition, extended service intervals'con-
trihute to reduced maintenance requirements. and
therefore, lower operating costs.
