Norman Belfry was
well known in
Hydro circles
Norman A. Belfry of
Walkerton, well known to people
from many parts of Ontario, died
suddenly July 8 in Victoria
Hospital, London at the age of 74
years.
He was a native of Victoria
Harbor, bntario. Joining Ontario
Hydro at an early age he' was
with Hydro for 44 years, 34 years
of which were spent in a
managerial position.
He was appointed superin-
tendent of Ontario Hydro of
Uafbridge in 1930. Mr. Belfry had
lived in Walkerton since being
transferred there in 1950 as area
manager and had been living
retired since 1964.
Mrs. 1. W. Merrick, whose late
husband was associated with Mr.
Belfry in Hydro, was among the
many friends who attended the
service at the Tanner and Pear-
son Funeral Horne, Walkerton.

Wingham area, Alexander
Darwin Baird of RR.3, Wingham,
died suddenly at his home, on
Sunday, July 28. He waS in his
52nd year.

Williamina MacKenzie. He at-
tended elementary school in
Lower Wingham and worked as
an upholsterer, first at Fry and

Surviving is one brother, Ralph
Baird of New York City.
The late Mr. Baird rested at the
R. A. Currie and Son Funeral
Home, Wingham, where Rev. H.
. L. Jennings conducted service at
2 o'clock' Wednesday. Interment
followed in Wingham Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Don Adams,
Brian Hallman, Karl Basnaw,
Len Baird, Lorne Baird and Ken
Currie. Floral tributes were
carried by Don Cleghorn and
George Finley.

G. M. Johnston
There passed away at his
summer home, ' Bruce Beach,
Gordon M. Johnston of Scar-
borough, in his 66th year. His
sudden death occurred on Thurs-
4 aY, July 25.
.Mr. Johnston was born in Luck -
now, a son of the late Mr. and
Mrs. Oliver Johnston. He was
educated in Lucknow andwas a
high school' tea er in Lucknow,
Plattsville and Toronto. He
retired a few years ago and al-
though he resided in Scar-
borough, he spent a great deal of
time in this area.
The late Mr. Johnston was a
member of the United Church.
The body rested at the Mac-
Kenzie Memorial .Chapel, Luck -
now, until Monday at 2 p.m. when
Rev. William Henderson of
Woodstock, a friend of the family,
conducted funeral service:. Inter-
ment followed in South Kinloss
Cemetery.
