It h
as been years since movie
houses have done the business
that they are doing this year; in
fact, figures based on a poll con-
ducted in the United States reveal
that the movie theatres in the big
cities are doing better this year
than they have.for seven years,
that being the length of time they
have had in effect their com-
puterized box office chart.
The reason, of course, is some
great movies like "The Sting",
"American Graffiti" (playing in
local theatres this month),
"Serpico", "Papillon" and a
number of special wildlife adven-
ture' films that have often taken
over theatreS and packed more
into a one-night stand than most
movies do in a week.
The big reason seems to be
DON'T BE disappointed, book
now for spring and summer wed-
ding receptions, club dinners or
dances, business meetings or pri-
vate parties. Accommodation to
300 people. Bar if required.
COMPLETE CATERING SERV-
ston 343-3906 or 343-3116.
"The Exorcist", one of the most
controversial movies' ever made.
The story of demonic possession
that was rumored to make au-
diences ill or even worse, con-
vince many people they actually
were possessed by the devil, it
ftent the curious public flocking to
theatres and thinking nothing of
standing in line for hours just to
see it.
The furor has died down now;
"The Exorcist", fortunately but
to me, surprisinglz, took no
major Academy Awards; and
some stories are coming out of
Hollywood that the stars did not
actually play all the scenes: So a
lot of people pre losing interest in
"The Exorcist". Besides, many
who have read the book prefer to
stop there and leave well enough
