YIP coi'tl yv Q*,lj°• ANt'i C'.„4 y,p a' LL Maitland Presbyterial Soc. meeting in Ripley church The May meeting of the Mait- land Presbyterial Society held afternoon and evening sessions in Knox Presbyterian Church, Rip- ley, on May 13, the themes being "Power" and "Reap" respect- ively. Mrs. Doug Martyn pre- sided effectively at the organ, and Mrs. J, W. English capably chaired both assemblies. Devotions in the afternoon were conducted by Mrs. Ira Dickie, Mrs. Brute Hamilton and • Mrs. Lloyd MacDougall of 'South Kinloss, and in the evening by Mrs. H. Congram, Mrs. Ralph Nixon and Mrs. C. Wood of Wingham. Visitors were wel- comed by Mrs. George Suther- land and Mrs. J. MacLean. Mrs. Evan Keith's financial report added a note of cheer as it re- vealed considerable increase in givings thus far. A highlight of the afternoon was the presentationof honorary life membership certificates, one to Mrs. D. Rae of Wingham by Mrs. T. A. Curie, a second to Mrs. Henderson of Lucknow by Mrs. Joesph Little, and a third donated by Alvin Mundell to Mrs. Joesph Smith of Lucknow, pre- sented by her step -daughters, Mrs. Mundell and Mrs. Brisbane. Greetings from Presbytery were expressed by Rev. R. H. Armstrong. Synodical reports from Mrs. Robert Arbuckle, Mrs. Joesph Little, Mrs. AEwan Mac- Lean, Mrs. Bruce Hamilton, Joseph Martin, Mrs. Keith Evans, Mrs. Ralph Nixon and Mrs. Glen Noble proved inter- esting and informative. Burnett, council president, who, in the afternoon, spoke on "What is dis- cipleship?", and in the evening showed slides of her world tour as she commented interestingly on. them. She pointed out that disci- pleship involves • loyalty to a cause, expects the responsibility of service, shares a faith, gives love, makes use of one's talents, has a job to do, makes fse,of each opportunity, requires much of each of us, gives a need to exist. Duets by Mrs. Alvin Mundell and Mrs. Bruce Darling, also by Misses Flora Simpson and Diane MacKenzie added much to the enjoyment of the day. In Memoriam for those members Who have died was conducted by Mrs. Barr, Kin - lough. Mrs. Joseph - West and Mrs. Colin Macintosh gave the offertory prayers, ° while closing prayers were led by Mrs. Young, Langside,.: and ,Miss Sadie John- ston. A member for Teeswater extended courtesy remarks., Regret was expressed upon hearing of the resignation of Mrs. Walter Ballagh as secretary of afternoon groups. Mrs. Findlay MacLeod will be camp delegate June 14-16. Plans are being made for the fall board meeting on September 9 at Langside; the 1975 Presbyterial in Teeswater; and the 1975 Synodical in Knox Church, St. Thomas, in April. Approximately 70 Institute. members . enjoyed the program and the luncheon served by the Gorrie members. - - Following the close of the meeting in the afternoon session, a short business meeting was held for the Gorrie members with the president, Mrs. William Thornton, presiding. —Mike Milosevic read the Epistle at the 8:30 a -m. service in St. Paul's Anglican Church on Sunday. Assisting in the 11 a.M. service were Robert Johnston and Mike Beattie who read the first and second Lessons, Rev. T. K. Hawthorn was in charge of both services. FOUR MEMBERS OF THE Wingham Deb -U -Tons Michele Rintoul, Joyce MacDonald, Lisa Thompson and Sherry Green took advantage of a rummage sale in aid of the baton club to search for costume materials for their upcoming recital at 'Wingham Public School.
