In a sur- vey taken in March and released last week, i -t was among the top ten programs of the week, on the ('BC network alone and also on the joint CBC-CTV networks. The survey is conducted by the BBM Bureau of Measurement and in- cludes regular televising only, not specials. the top show, watched on CBC, was'The Wonderful World of Dis- ney which had an audience of 4,289,000. In the survey consisting of CBC shows only, it was follow- . ed by "All in the Family'`, "M -A -S -H" and "The Waltons", all American shows, then "Hockey Night in Canada an- other ti.S. show, "Partridge Family", "The National Dream". "The Beachcombers" and two more American efforts, "Bugs Bunny" and "Carol Bur- nett". The top Canadiw►,_p rnduieed shows, on holh networks, were led by H /key Night in Canada and "TI e National Dream" moved into second position: CTV Hockey was third: "The Beach- combers-, Tommy Hunter, ('TV's quiz show, "Headline Hunters "Front Page Cha1- lenge' "The ;Marketplace "Pig 'n' Whistle" a1pd "This land". In the general classification, American and Canadian -produc- ed shows, on both networks, Disney still led with the remain- der of the list much the same as the first list you read, except that CTV added two, "Sonny and Cher" and the Tuesday Night Movie, I suppose one can assume that People are enjoying "The Nation - 'TIS Sh'ow BIZ by Venni Lee al Dream" or they would not con- tinue to watch it. It is truly a fine piece of history taken from Cana- da's past and brought alive for us in the present. 0---0-0 • The NHL playoffs always dis- rupt television viewing some- what, taking prime time to charge into your living -rooms with play -by -playact ion.
