E. Madill S dary School on Sunday evening tae hear Dr. Hart Berner, head of the physio. department of Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo,, speak in support of the unborn children of Canada. In his opening remarks Dr, Bezner, explained that there are two types of abortions perforuned in this country: a) those done ter medical reasons and b) theft done for social reasons. He has ne quarrel with the first type but he. has launched a personal cabs- paign against the latter and. hopes to provide the average per,, son with scientific facts supporta ing his stand. Dr. Berner charged that in the last five years as many as 150,000 social abortions have been performed in Canada. Keller On a motion by C-oderich Reeve Deb Shewfelt and Grey Township Reeve Charles Thomas, county council for Huron has agreed to look into the possibility of setting up a special committee to study restructuring in the county. Reeve Shewfelt said the county needed to take a close look at its system of government as well as its priorities for the future. He advocated, however, a "mix" of urban and rural people on any committee which is appointed. Reeve Elgin Thompson of the Executive Committee, said members of that committee had been advised by Hofs. John White's office that restructuring is not necessary -at the present time for Huron. "Why do we still harp on it?" asked Thompson. However, despite Thompson's pleas, the motion received the approval of council. { Soviet Union and China abortions wan% the child. The directors have decided to con- tinue offices in both Belgrave and Wingham one afternoon per week, more if business demands it. The Belgrave office has been in C. R. Coultes' store on Tuesday afternoons in the winter and Tuesday evenings in the Summer. Since November 1, 1973, the Wingham office has been open in Elliott's Insurance office on Wed- nesday afternoon from -3 to 5:30, but it would appear as though this might have to be extended. George Michie is the treasurer - manager at both offices. Shares in a Credit Union carry life insurance up to $2,000. Loans from a Credit Union are life in- sured at no extra cost. The two companies received permission to amalgamate from the Ministry of Consumer and Commercial Relations in early March. The joining of the two Credit Unions will give a' stronger organization and should prove a valuable financial asset to the community. The penalties for impaired driving can range from those provided in the Criminal Code of Canada — which include: fine, in' •piisonment, or both, and loss of driver's licence — to the possible loss of insurance, higher annual insurance rates, loss of job, even social disgrace.
