Beckwith, Lillian, LIGHTLY •
POACHED.
Lightly Poached is Lillian
Beckwith's fifth book about her
life in the Hebrides and shows 'a
very slight change of tone. Added
to the humour and light-hearted-
ness of her previous books, Miss
Beckwith seems more aware of
other things and these fill the
pages with further incidental de-
lights. The thrill of seeing a gold-
en eagle a few paces away, the
beauty of playing a .piano on the
ferry under the stars, and the
serious problem of cow, chickens
and haymaking . all take their
place alongside the hilarious day
to day doings of the Bruachites.
