always interested in his com-
munity and during centennial
year was the chairman for the
township centennial project, the
compiling of the book, "History
of East Wawanosh";
He was known over a wide area
of Ontario because of his interest
in the Black Knight and Orange
Lodges and last April attained
the office of Grand Master of the
Grand Black Chapter of the
Royal Black Knights of ' Ontario

Miss Ann Keith
dies at Huronview
Catherine Ann Keith died sed-
denly at Huronview, Clinton on
Thursday, February 28. She was
the daughter of the late Mr. and
Mrs. John. Keith, in her 85th year. ,
After completing her education
at Walkerton High School she at-
tended Model School and taught
until her certificate expired. Fol-
lowing graduation from Stratford
Normal she returned to the
teaching profession. Several of
her later years were spent in
Teeswater where she devoted
herself to being a companion to
her aging mother.
She enjoyed lawn bowling and
bridge. She was also an avid
gardener, specializing in gladioli.
In 1962 she moved to ah apart-
ment in Wingham where she
resided until four years ago when
she entered Huronview. She was
a member of the Wingham Pres-
byterian Church.
She is survived by one sister,
Jean, of Barrie and several
devoted nieces and nephews. Two
brothers, Duncan and William,
and one sister, Mrs, Rice (Edna),
predeceased her.
Funeral and committal ser-
vices were conducted by Rev. R.
H. Armstrong at the MacPherson
Funeral Chapel, Teeswater, on
Saturday, March 2.

23 in Listowel Memorial Hospital
after a lengthy illness, William
George Ash, in his 66th year.
He leaves to mourn, his wife,
the former Eva Allan of Perth,
Ontario; two sons, William of RR
1, Listowel, and Kenneth of Listo-
wel; three grandsons; five sisters
and two brothers,
Mr. Ash served overseas with
the 97th Battery (Listowel) from
1940 to 1945.
• The body rested at the Robert
Trench Funeral Home until Mon-
day, February 25, when fuiieral
service was conducted by Rev.
Raymond Brassel of Christ
Anglican 'Church at 2 p.m.
Memorial services\ were con-
ducted Sunday evening by
members of Branch 259, Royal
Canadian Legion, and Branch
652, Loyal Orange Lodge, Trow-
bridge, of which deceased was a
member. •

Bluevale, and Mrs. J. Nicholson
of Edward Street, Wingham, are
sisters of the late Mr. Ash.

CALVIN H. ASHLEY
'Calvin Hudson Ashley, 38, of
435 Elma St. West, Listowel, died
at his residence on March 1. 4
A son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert
(Margaret Hudson) Ashley, he
was born in Turnberry Township
on June 21, 1935. He was married
to the former Jean Dinsmore Of
Fordwich.
Following the couple's mar-
riage in Fordwich, they moved to
Listowel where Mr. Ashley was
employed for 18 years with the
Listowel Transport Lines. For
the past two years he has manag-
ed the Becker's Milk Store in Lis-
towel.
Mr. Ashley Vas a member of
Knox Presbyterian Church, Lis-
towel.
Besides his wife and parents,
he is survived by four sons, Al-
bert, Floyd, Kevin and Robert
and four daughters, Betty,
Kathy, Karen and Linda, all at
home; three brothers, Ronald of
RR 1, Listowel, Melvin of Port
Colbourne, and Donald of Tor-
onto; and three sisters, Mrs. Carl
(Florence) Addison of Toronto,
Mrs. Mary Carr of Port Col -
bourne and Joyce Ashley of Port
Colbourne; and 17 nieces and
nephews.
The body rested at the Robert
Trench Funeral Home, 385 Main
St. West, Listowel, where the fun-
eral service was held at 2:30 p.m.
Monday. Rev. Gordon Beaton of
Knox Presbyterian Church, Lis-
towel, officiated. Burial was in
Fairview Cemetery.

of Prayer service` held for Tees -
water and area residents in the
Teeswater Pentecostal Taber-
nacle. The latter spoke on the
theme for the day, "Make Us
Builders of Peace".
—Mr. and Mrs. Delton Burk-
hart spent Saturday in London
where they visited Mrs. Burk -
hart's mother, Mrs. Lily Forrest,
a patient in Victoria Hospital.
Mrs. Forrest was transferred by
ambulance to the London hospital
after being a patient in the local
hospital for sometime.
HAROLD GROVES
Harold H. Groves of 53 Coulter
Avenue, St. Thomas, formerly of
Listowel died at the St. Thomas -
Elgin General Hospital, Thurs-
day, Feb. 28, after an illness of
one and a half weeks. He was ;;,2
years of age:
Born in Winghant, he came to
St. Thomas following World War
II. He was the son of the late
Harry and May Smith Groves. He
was a salesman for Union Gas
Company; Ltd.
A member of Talbot Lodge, No.
546, A.F. & A.M., he was also a
member of Mocha Temple
Shrine, London and the Elgin Hi-
Ro Shrine Club.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs.
Dorothea Tanner Groves of 53
Coulter Avenue; a son, Jeffery;
and two daughters, Vicki and
Linda,' all at home.
He is also survived by three
brothers, Harry of Listowel, Al-
fred of Listowel and Fred of
Orton; seven sisters, Mrs. Ernie
Admitted to hosp.

Two area young people were
admitted to the Wingham and
District Hospital last weekend
after they were injured in home
accidents.
John Scott, 16, of RR 1, Bel -
grave, was treated Friday for a
fractured left wrist and said
early this week to be in satis-
factory condition.
Also in satisfactory condition is
nine-year-old Kenneth Moir of
RR 2, Wingham, wl.o on Sunday
fell approximately five to six feet
onto a barn floor. He was ad-
mitted with skull injuries.
Treated in the emergency ward
and allowed to return home were
two victims of icy streets. Mrs.
Bella Anne Mawhinney of Tees -
water fell in front of her home
and injured her left shoulder.
Ivan Harkness of Wingham
lacerated his hand on a piece of
metal after he fell on ice. Both
incidents occurred on Sunday. '
On Wednesday of last week,
Patrick Hunter of Gorrie, re-
ceived a dog bite when he knock-
ed on the door of a farm house in
Wroxeter. He was released
following emergency treatment.
