Federal payment Belgrave holds Ice Carnival mailed to farmers Payments under the federal. government's two -price wheat program for 1973 were mailed. last week to poroducers in eastern Canada, according to an announcement made bf Agri- culture Minister Eugene Whelan. Under the program, 22,666 farmers in Ontario will receive a_ total of 58,235,930 in federal pay- ments. Payments for 1973 also have gone to producers of wheat in Quebec and the Maritimes who deliver wheat for Canadian human consumption. The total payment to Ontario growers represents the number of bushels of Ontario wheat that went for Canadian human con, sumption in 1973 times $1.045 per bushel. The sum of 31.045 is the difference between $3.00 per bushel, the government guar- anteed price, and the price charged to millers by the Ontario Wheat Producers' Marketing Board. Individualpayments are cal- culated on a pool basis because farmers deliver more, bushels than are consumed domesticalli. "We are making direct pay - Ghia; soccer and Newcombe ments to .
