for the Ironmen came through
with some big key saves, es-
pecially early in the game and
that 'big sprawling save with the
arm in the dying seconds of the
first period had the fans buzzing
with amazement ... Don't forget

next Sunday at 8:00 p.m. against
the Tavistock Junior "D" team.
Wingham thrashed
Owen Sound 9.1
Wingham WOAA Bantams
picked up another win in exhi-
bbition play this time against
Owen. Sound, putting their rivals
away with a :9-1 score.
In the first period Wingham
scored four, goals. Bernie Haines
opened the scoring on an unas-
sisted goal at 1:45. The Owen
Sound team answered that goal
when Paul Stewart put one in the
Wingham net at 3:45: An assist
went to Scott Baker. Wingham
came roaring back with goals by
Kevin Hickey at 6:03, Dave
Kieffer at 10:40 and Dave Bennett
at 18:45. Dave Bennett, Mike
Montgomery •'and Kevin 'Hickey
all got 'assists' during the first
9 period.
In the second period no goals
were scored by either team but
when the third -frame rolled
around Wingham opened up for a
five -goal period. Dave Kieffer
scored at the 50 second mark and
again at 1:45. Doug McGregor
and Sheldon Jones picked up
assists on Dave's second goal. At
4:40- Kevin Hickey hit for an
unassisted goal. The Owen Sound
team managed to hold Wingham
at bay until the 16:40 mark when
Kevin Hickey put in another goal
with the assistance of 'Bernie
Haines and finally Kevin Carter
put the Bantams eight points
aheadon a goal assisted by Dave
Kieffer • at 1.7:40 of the period.

Walden's to tie
Only one game was played in
the Wingham PeeWee-Bantam
House League last week with
Stainton's and Walden's battling
to a 3-3 decision.
Doug Merkley opened the
scoring for Stainton's at the one
minute mark of the second
period. Ken Tervit assisted on the
goal. Walden's tied it up five
minutes later with a goal by Tim
Henderson on a pass from Joe
Brophy. Then Joe Brophy turned
it around and scored with Tim
Henderson assisting. Before the
period 'ended Kevin Tervit tied' it
up for Stainton's.
Tom McLean scored. Walden's
Only goal of the third period with
an assist going to Kern Lansing.
Ken Tervit ended the scoring for
Stainton's at 5:30 on a pass from
Doug Merkley.

The Iromnen showed no mercy
as they bombed the 'Milverton
team to the tune of 9-3 in a game
played in ,Milverton last Friday
evening. 4
It took the Iromnen only 53
second to hit the score sheet as
Bob Johnston tallied, the assist
going tb Cliff Hetherington.
Wingham went two up as Barry
MacDonald scored at the five
minute mark. Milverton's Ken
Dale scored at the nine Minute
mark but W_ ingham got that one
back with interest as Gerry
Wheeler scored at 10:33 and Phil
Paquette at 1.1:1.6,
Trailing '4-1 at the ` end of `hD
minutes, Milverton came out
skating in the second and with
two quick goals within 25 seconds
by Ren Gropp at the three
minute mark made s it 4-3 and
Milverton was right back in the
game.
However the Ironmen bounced
back and before the.end of the
period got goals from the sticks of
Doug Leitch, Bob Johnston, Phil
Paquette and Steve Caslick and
had a commanding 8-3 lead after
two periods of hockey, •
The third period saw both
teams more on the offensive with
Milverton weakening their attack
as they picked up no• less than
seven penalties and the lone goal
of the period came in the last.
