FORDWICH —. The afternoon
unit of the United Church Women
held its May meeting' in the Sun-
day School room. The theme of
the meeting was a Mother's Day
program.
The worship service was ,taken
by Mrs. Clarence Carswell and
Mrs. Pearl Patterson beside- a
worship centre of spring flowers,
lighted candelabra and a picture
of a saintly mother, the late Mrs.
William Carswell.
The scrip`ure from Ruth I was
read by Mrs. Patterson, Mrs.
Jack Wilson sang a solo, "God's
Masterpiece". The meditation on
Bible mothers was given by Mrs.
C. Carswell, concluding with a
little parable for mothers.
The program was presented by
Mrs. B. Agla and Mrs. Austin
Stinson. They stressed the
"Home", under the headings: 1.
The Christian home. 2.' The Chris-
tian husband. 3. The mother and
the church. Mrs. Stinson offered
prayer. ,
Mrs. B. Agla presided for the
business period and welcomed
the ladies. The roll call was "A
Bible Mother". Announcement.
was made of the Westminster
, weekend in June and the Alma
College School fol Leaders in
August. Thank -you notes for
cards and remembrances were
read from Mrs. James Warrell
and Crosby Sotherp if.
Mrs,. Agla closedwith "What Is
a Mother?"' and benediction. The
ladies quilted during the after-
noon. Lunch hostesses were Mrs.
Jack Wilson, Mrs. George Ashton
and Mrs. William Wilson.

Saturday from Wingham and
District Hospital.
Last Wednesday evening the
high school band of 42 pupils,
trained • by teacher Wayne Far-
rier, put on an instrumental con-
cert in the Walkerton High
School. Colleen Farrier, a
medalist, 'was present from To-
ronto and played two instru-
mentals. Present from here were
Mr. and Mrs. Lorne Durnin, Mr.
and Mrs. Elwood Groskorth and
Wayne's parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Garnet Farrier.
Mr. and Mrs. Walter Elliott and
Karen were recently at Toronto
International Airpo0'where they
met his mother, Mrs. Gordon El-
liott, and Mrs. Galbraith retltirn-
ing from their West Coast visit.
Mr. and Mrs. Don Campbell
and fatnily of Loddon were Sun-
day visitors with Mr. and Mrs.
Walter Elliott.
Weekend visitors with Mr. and
Mrs. Clifford Laidlaw were
David Bean and Miss Barbara
Lyons of Brampton.
Miss Ruth Elliott was home
with her parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Walter Elliott, and family on
Wednesday and Thursday from
the psychiatric hospital, Code -
rich, where she has summer em-
ployment.
Toto Morrison and Mr. Myers
of Wingham were at Little Cur-
rent during the past few days
doing some minor repairs prior to
moving.
