SS board endorses resolution
on trustees seeking nomination

Board meeting in Seaforth en-
dorsed the -resolution from the
Lincoln County Separate School
Board that it Rptition the Premier
of the ''Provinbe, Mr. Davis, and
' Minister of Education T. Wells, to
amend the Separate Schools Act
Sp as to require of 'persons seek-
ing, election as trustees of a sep-
orate school board the same
'qualifications ,required of those
rsons seeking election as pub-
ic, school. trustees, namely: 1.
that they be a Canadian citizen;
2. that they;be of the full age of 18
years.; `'3: that they be . resident

within the jurisdiction. of the
Board `(school zone) and 4. that

Toronto on February 4, 5 and 6.
Trustees, Patrick Carty . , of
Stratford, Arthur Haid of RR 4,
Listowel, and Ted Geoffrey'of RR
2, Zurich, were named to a
{ committee for 'a follow-up stud
of the HS 1 Credit System and the
Response to Change Bulletin
published by the Ministry of
Education. This followed a
special meeting of trustees on
.Ia ri»ary ; 22- when they met tii
consider the Credit System and
the bulletin. S. D. Oakes,
assistant regional director of the
Regional Office of the Minisry of
Education at Waterloo was the
guest speaker at that meeting.
Trustees David Teahen of.
Stratford, Vincent Young of
Goderich. and Gbrdon Ball, all
members of the personnel
committee, will attend . the
Provincial Salary Conference in
Toronto on February 17.
Oscar Kieffer, RR 1, Bluevale,
chairman of the property com-
mittee. reported the renewal of
the Preventative Maintenance
Contract with Simplex In-
ternational Time Equipment for
the servicingof all program. uta,,
in 17,of the 19 sepairate schools m
the two counties, it a rate of $702
per year.
Mr. Kieffer . reported the initial.
allocation of $3,300 has been
received under the winter works
program and an additional
allocation of $5;700 will be
received bringing the total to
$9,000 of provincial funds. Last
year the Board's allocation was
$8,200.
The money is to be used for
painting at various schools, for
cupboards and other such
projects.
Mr. Kieffer reported the roof on
the St. Boniface School in Zurich
has been repaired. also the roof
on St. Michael's School in
Stratford, and on February 14
work on the roof on St. Patrick's
School in Kinkora will start.
John Vintar, superintendent of
education, reported on the annual
convention of Canadian Catholic
Trustees' Association to be held
in Toronto on May 17, 18 and 19
and on the annual convention of
the °mark) Separate School
Trustees' 'Association on April 5
and 6 in Toronto. All trustees
were urged to attend the Ontario
Association's convention.

program at a fee rate of $15 per
school. The Board will pay the fee
for any school wishing to par-
ticipate.
The Seaforth Minor Hockey
Association will be permitted .to
advertise an exhibition hockey
game between the Flying
Fathers' Team and a local team
made up of. those 'involved in
minor hockey,, corder to raise . .
money fo d %.mi~ r hockey. A .,Y
poster contest will beheld on this. _,
and posters will be judged and
the winners announced the night
of the game. It' is hoped to sell
1000 tickets.
The meeting adjourned at 11:30
p.m. and continued as a com-
mittee-of-the-whole.
