Huron far..rs
to voice opinion
on perk licOic.
The directors of the Hr
County Pork Producers' tssocta-
tion decided at their regular
meeting to comply with the re-
quest of the provincial board and
hold an opinion poll ona pork pro-
ducing licence. At the annual
meeting to beheld here on Feb ary 7th, producers will be asked:
to vote on a proposal for a $10
licence fee for all pork produce.
Adrian Vos, newly -appointed
spokesman for the Huron Cain;
group, 'pointed out that the
licence does not prevent anyone
from entering into pork produc-
tion. The purpose of a licence is
the saving of an estimated $10,000
in administration and computi
cost and a better pinpointing of
ucers. Any pro-
'pigs who did not
the board facilities
before, can now apply for a
licence andreceive all the rightsii
and privileges of an association
member. Conversely, anyone
shipping less than 25 hogs per
year can waive his rights and ask
the county for a refund of his
money.
James McGregor,provincial
board member announced that
all producers who shipped more
than 50 hogs in 1972 will receive a
statement- of their transactions
during the year.

MVCA gets grant For
East Wavianosh land
The Hon. Leo. Bernier, Minis-
ter of Natural Resources, and
Murray Gaunt, MPP for Huron -
Bruce, announce the approval of
a provincial grant of $29,500 to the
Maitland Valley Conservation
Authority for the acquisition of
some 400 acres of land in the
Township of East Wawanosh.
The authority's purpose in
acquiring this property is to pro-
vide the public with those forests,
wildlife and land use benefits
which can be easily developed
and managed in this parcel, in
line with the authority's ob-
jectives. Definite detailed de-
velopment plans have not, as yet
been formulated, but will be.com-
pleted during 1973.
The 400 acres of property lies
astride the Maitland River with
300 acres on the east bank and 100
acres on the west bank. The land
is generally gently rolling with a
strong -flowing trout stream, one
of the few in the watershed,
crossing the easterly 300 acres of
the property.
All member municipalities will
bear the authority's share of the
cost.
