FORDWICI;I -- A highlight furl
ing the Women's Institute year is
always the meeting when the
girls of the three -homemaking
clubs are in attendance. The Oc-
tober meeting held in the Ford=
wich hall was no exception—as 35
4-H homemaking club girls and
many of their mothers were in
attendance. There was a display
of sleepwear, a project taken
earlier in the year, depicting an
assortment of trims, edgings, etc.
Another group had an attractive
table and a poster entitled, "Buf-
fet Dining Setting for Thanksgiv-
ing”. Miss Kathy Machan was
the commentator for this display.
There were also two skits,
"Your Lunch Is Better than
Mine", and "Let's Eat Out".
Both dealt with food, and the eat-
ing habits of some folks which
could be improved by following
Canada's Food Rules and thus
maintaining better health,
keener minds, and more active
bodies. A special, feature of the
evening was the buffet fondue
luncheon prepared and served by
the girls to the WI members and
their mothers. Much ereditais Clue
the leaders, Mrs. D. Agla, Mrs.
Joe Winkel, Mrs. H. Winkel, Mrs.
M. Penny, Mrs. R. Livermore
and Mrs. C. D'Arcey.
Mrs-. Grant Bartman gave the
history bf the 4-H work and told of
its growth and its aims among the
young people of ; rural Ontario.
The County of Huron has over
i,100, girls taking the current
courses—the largest enrolment
of any county in Ontario.
Mrs. Wallace Bilton had charge
of the Thanksgiving devotional
exercise and comment. The re-
port of the Huron County WI
rally, held in Aubutrnrecently,
was given by Mrs. J, Freeman.
Mrs. Elmer Harding reminded
the ladies of the dessert and
euchre to be held in Wroxeter on
October 23. An invitation was
accepted to attend the Lakelet WI
on November 8. The area conven-
tion was mentioned as taking
place in Stratford on November 2
and 3. There will also be a euchre
in the Fordwich hall +i n October
