FOOTBALL
On Oct. 11 Palmerston travel-
led to Howick for the fifth game
of the season.
In the first quarter Don Hastie
made a safety touch to give
Howick the first two points of the
game. Rudy Powell then ran 15
yards in an end sweep for
Howick's first touchdown.
In the second quarter there was
no scoring for either team.
In the third quarter Ron Haas-
noot ran 28 yards Jo score a
touchdown. All through the game
there were no converts and there
was no scoring in the fourth quar-
ter. .
Final score was 14-0 in favor of
Howick. Highlights of the game
were Jeff Dickson with seven
flags and Doug Gibson with four.
Howick is in top spot with five
straight wins. "Congratulations
Boys".
On Oct. 12 Minto -Clifford trav-
elled to Howick to play in rainy,
cold weather.
In the first quarter Minto -Clif-
ford scored a touchdown, but the
convert was no good. A one -yard
run by Terry Woollett scored
Howick's first touchdown.
In the third quarter Murray
Watson made a '12 yard run to
count Howick's third touchdown.
Then Minto -Clifford came back to
score a third touchdown which
tied the scored.
In the fourth quaitter there was
no scoring for either team. The
final score was 18-18. Highlight of
the game was the performance of
the defensive line including Jeff
Dickson, Terry Wollett and Paul
Dickson. Howick ended the sea-
son with a five straight win and
one tied game. They are - now
waiting for playoffs.

Church Women of Trinity Church
met for their October meeting at
the home of Mrs. Wellington Har-
grave.
The President Mrs. Eva Fergu-
son opened the meeting with a
reading "The Great Equalizer".
There were 16 members and one
guest present. The devotions
"Picking Daisies" was given by
Mrs.. Bunker.
Mrs. Florence Foster read a
letter of thanks from the Rev.

taken by Jean Dinsmore. A hu-
morous reading "The Grandma
of Today" was given by Mrs.
Strong. Mrs. Dinsmore read an
article of interest from a 4-H leaf-
let entitled "To the Chief of Po-
, lice" written by a concerned
mother.
The president reminded the
members of the Archdeaconary
meeting to be held in Goderich on
Oct. 23, with Holy Communion at
11 a.m. and a mini workshop in
the afternoon presented by 'the
Diocesan Council of Anglican
•Church Women. The Statutary
meeting will be held in the eve-
ning. It was voted by the mem-
bers'that a cheque'be sent to Paul
Rice in Lesota.
