Mrs. John Farrell of Belmore
passed away in the Wingham and
District Hospital on Thursday,
October 5, followingI;a'1engthy ill=
ness. She was in her 85th year.
Mrs. Farrell was the former
Myrtle Gray, a daughter of the
late Joseph Gray. and Martha
Butcher. She and her husband
farmed in Carrick Township be-
fore moving to Belmore several
years ago. She was a member, of
Knox Presbyterian Church, Bel-

The late Mrs. Farrell rested at
the Moir Funeral Home, Gorrie,
until Saturday at 2:30 when serv-
ice was conducted by Dennis
Freeman of the Belmore-Blue-
vale charge. Interment followed
in McIntosh Cemetery.
Pallbearers were David Mc-
Kee, Otto Hohnstein, Ken Dick-
son, Earl McNee, Harvey Bal-
• lagh and Norman Newans. Floral
tributes were carried to the
graveside by Harry Metcalfe and
Herb Busby.
Surviving besides her husband,
is one sister, Mrs. Ida Louttit of
Howick Township.

Frances Inglis was born in Car-
rick Township 46 years ago. She
was the daughter of George Inglis
and his wife, the former Laura
Renwick, who died. in 1944.
Miss Inglis received her
elementary school education at
USS No. 12, Howick and Carrick,
near McIntosh Church. She was a
member of the McIntosh United
Church and the United Church
Women.
Surviving besides her father,
are two brothers, Jack and Mac,
both of RR 1, Clifford.

On Tuesday of last week the
Howick Golden Hawks travelled
to Minto -Clifford for their third
consecutive win.
Murray Watson started the
second quarter by running a two -
yard run for the first Howick
touchdown but the convert was
incomplete and was set up on a
38 -yard sweep by Ricky Powell,
At half time score was Howick 6,
Minto 0.
In the third quarter Howick .in-
creased the lead 18-0 on two
touchdowns by Ricky Powell. The
first touchdown was scored on a
33 end run and the convert Was
missed. The second touchdown
was scored on a 10 -yard run but
once again the convert was in-
complete.
In the fourth quarter Donald
Hastie• scored Howick's fourth
touchdown on, a 30 -yard pass and
run play from Tom Graham. Ron
Haasnoot converted the touch-
down.
Minto -Clifford's only touch-
down came, on a 65 -yard run by
David Mew. He also completed
U; ! the convert. Final score was
• Hick 25Minto Clifford 7. —

The following day the Hawks
went to Harriston. In the first
quarter the Howick team took a 6-
0 Lead when Ron Haasnoot ran
two yards for a touchdown. It was
set up :on a brilliant 40 -yard pass
and run play from Tom Graham
to Don Hastie but the convert was
incomplete.
In' the second quarter Harriston
took the. lead on a converted
touchdown. Howick tied the score
when Ron McCannell caught a
single on Gary Gibson's kick. At

began to move the ball con-
sistantly, under the leadership of
Ron Haasnoot. Then Don Hastie
tied the score 13-13 on a .7 -yard
run "after a 75 -yard march from
Howick's own 25 -yard line. Ricky
Powell put Howick ahead with a
successful convert. Howick in-
creased their lead when Ricky
Powell scored an 8 -yard run and
the. convert was successful by
Don Hastie. Harriston then
marched down field to score an-
ot_her .'converted touchdown.
The final score ended 21-20 in
favor of the Howick Golden
Hawks. .
Highlights of the Game: Lead-
ing Howick on defense with five
flags were Doug Gibson and
Terry Woollett. Jeff Dickson
grabbed fourth flag and had an
interception. This was Howick's
fourth win in a row.

on Monday, Sept, 25. Mrs. Ann -
strong, formerly of RR 1, Ingle-
wood, was born in Albion' Tc t.
hip, Peel qty, the daughter
of William and Elizabeth (Speirs)
Caldwell.
She was the mother of James
Armstrong acid grandmother of
William, Elizabeth, Karen,
Deborah and Wendy Armstrong,
Also surviving are her sisters,
Mrs. Laura Goodfellow of Bolton,
Mrs. Mary Pickerel! of Aurora,
and Mrs. Ada Robinson of Noble='
top. She was predeceased by her
brother Charles.
Mrs. Armstrong was a life
member of the WMS of Claude
Presbyterian Church. She also
served for many years as a direc-
tor orrthe Brampton Fair Board.
Rev. R. H. Armstrong of. St.
Andrew's' Presbyterian Church,
Wingham, conducted the funeral
service at Bolton on Thursday,
,Sept. 28, with interment in
Dixon's Cemetery. Pallbearers
were Albert Gilchrist, Albert
Mitchell, Carl Pickerel1, Ken Hy-
land, Roy Cousins and Robert
Speirs. Flowerbearers were Ron
French,Fran Robinson, Stewart
Chapman and Elliott Snyder.
