The afternoon unit of the
United Church Women convened
Tuesday of last week with Mrs.
Leonard James in charge.
The call to worship and opening
hymn were followed by scripture
reading by Mrs. T. Boss. Mrs.
Kelly led in prayer and gave a
reading, "Holidays".
Theme of the , meeting was on
missions entering new fields in
America and inland missions in
Africa. America is becoming
black. In Washington, I.C., 90
percent of the people are black so
it can be expected that there will

Thou Art".
Mrs. Boss was in charge of
business and the secretary; Mrs.
Bill Taylor, read the minutes.
The treasurer; Mrs. Bone, gave

On May 16 an attendance of 200

churches were entertained by, the
UCW in the United Church with a
good program and lunch 'was

anniversary when a family
gathering was held Sunday ' in

He has been employed by the

Procter moved a hearty vote of
thanks to the UCW for the deli-
cious dinner. Mrs. Mel Craig re-
sponded for the ladies.

master of ceremonies for the eve-
ning and for a short impromptu
program: Brenda Johnston,
Nancy Anderson,. and Marjorie-
Procter sang several 'delightful
numbers, followed by a piano solo

Haskins family
holds reunion
The 1972 Haskins, family re-
union was held on June 11 with a
good attendance in spite of the
less than desirable weather con-
ditions. Visitors were from Ham-
ilton, Georgetown, Lion's Head,_
Waterloo and the Belmore-Wrox-
eter area.
Officers this year were: Presi-
dent, Mrs. Earl Fitch; vice presi-
, dent, Elmer Haskins;, secretary -
treasurer, Mrs. 'Zella Duncan;
sports committee, Mr. and Mrs.
Bob Kopf.
Lunch was enjoyed at 2 o'clock,
followed by an afternoon of very
enjoyable games conducted by
the Sports committee and a social
get-together.

Mr. and Mrs. Wilmer Harcourt
were feted by over 30 relatives
last Friday evening at a buffet
dinner and ,social evening, at the
Brookside school. The head table
was decorated with spring
flowers and a three-tier wedding

Mr. Harcourt has worked for
Canadian National Railways for
more than 26years and Mrs. Har-
court has served in the Wingham
library for 22 years.

jured in a car accident. He is now

visited recently with the former's
mother, Mrs. Ted Newton. Mr.
and Mrs. Bert Abell of Listowel
were visitors Sunday at the same
home.
—Mrs. Irvin Merrick enjoyed a
week at Uxbridge with her family
and friends and attended the Ux-
bridge centennial celebrations
and services.
—About 33 members of the
junior choir of the Wingham Uni-
ted Church were guest singers at
a youth service in Zion United
Church, between Listowel and
Palmerston on Sunday morning.
Their leader and accompanist,
Mrs. Barry Passmore, also at-
tended the service as did several
parents. Following the worship
service, a pot -luck dinner was
served to members of the choir at
the church.

286, attended the morning wor-
ship service in the Wingham Uni-
ted Church on Sunday. Minister
of the church, Rev. Barry Pass-
more, spoke on "Making the
Church Relevant" and music was
supplied by the senior choir
accompanied by H. Swatridge.
