FORDWICH The afternoon
Unit of the United Church Women
held their June meeting in the
Sunday school room:
The worship service wlt given
by Mrs. Alex Donaldson and Mrs.
Austin Stinson beside a worship
centre of an open Bible and an ar-
rangement of pansies. The theme
of the worhip • was "Spring and
the beauty of the earth", and was
given .• by Mrs. Donaldson. The
scripture was ready by Mrs. Stin-
son who also offered prayer.
A solo; "In The Garden of My
Heart" was sung by Mrs. Jack
Wilson.•

The program on Africa en-
titled, "The White Man - Comes
Back to Black Africa", was pre-
sented by Mrs.', Bruce Agla and
Mrs. Crosby Sotheran. A ques-
tionnaire followed.
Mrs. Agla presided for the
business portion of the meeting
The roll call was "An African
Custom". Members •decided not
to pack a bale until fall and quilt
prices were discussed. •
The , meeting closed witti
prayer. Lunch was served by
Mrs. Stan Bride, Mrs. Wray
Cooper and Mrs. Austin Stinson.

ter Canadian Girls in Training
mother and daughter banquet
was held recently in the Sunday
School room of the Gorrie United
Church. The banquet was served
by the ladies of•Unit 2 who -were
thanked by Colleen McMillan.

toast to the mothers was given by
Brenda Thornton with Mrs.
Thornton replying; to the gradu-
ates, by Mrs. Norman ,Fairies

the girls repeating the purpose.,
Miss Lavonne Ballagh of Wing -
ham was the -'guest speaker and
her topic was "A Time for Every-
thing". She was thanked by Julie
Fairies.
The graduation service was.

Fairies. Velma Loutitt, Tharon
Riley, Elizabeth Neilson and
Debra Townsend were the gradu-
ates. -

WROXETER — The June 6
meeting of the Women's Institute
was held in the Sunday school
rooms of the United Church.
The president, Mrs. C. R.
Allan, introduced . Mrs. Maxine
Adams, leader of Wroxeter 14-H
Club, who gave a resume of the
work of 4-H leaders as well as
some of the projects undertaken
by the girls. Mrs. Adams and
Mrs. Phyl McMichael had a dis-
play set up which included the
certificates, spoons . and pins
which are awarded to leaders and
club members. '
Mrs. Joan Gibson and Mrs
Dorothy McGee, leaders of Wrox-
eter II 'Club also had a display
showing the garments made 'by
their club girls during the sleep-
wear project.
The girls of Club I put on a
fashion show to display their
finished garments. Marjorie Ann
McMichael was the commen-
' tator, assisted by Linda Jean
Hyslop. Mrs. John Ackerman
played background music for the
parade. Girls taking part were
Carol and Susan Adams; Janet
DeBoer,'Cathy Fines, Linda Jean
Hyslop, Susan and Marjorie Ann
McMichael.
Lunch was served by the host-
esses.
The regular business meeting
was held after 3 ch with Mrs.
Allan presiding. Minutes were
read and approved as well as a fi-
nancial report. Roll call was an-
swered by naming a famous
Canadian woman.
Membership was renewed in
the Huron Cofanty Historical
Society.
A report of the district annual
meeting was given by the district
director, Mrs. Ron McMichael.
An excellent topic on "Retire-
ment" was read by Mrs. L. Van-
,Yelsor. The topic was prepared
by Mrs. D. S. M4cNaughton of
Wingham. •
The Institute will donate prize
money fora special baking class
at the fall fair in Howick, open to
4-H girls only. Mrs. Allan, and
Mrs. Dickison . will be the con-
veners for the Institute exhibit at
the fair.
The meeting closed with a re-
minder to members of the next
meeting in September at the
president's -home.

mark anniversary
WROXETER -- Mr, and Mrs.
Burns Moffatt, Bluevale, were40
years married on June 8.
A dinner for the immediate
family was held at the Manor
Hotel, Wingham, on June 4 and on
Wednesday Bening, June 7, the
Bluevale neighbors gathered at
the -Moffatt home for a surprise
party. They presented the couple
with a beautiful white sheepskin
rug and a social time was en-
joyed.
On Sunday, June 11, a number
of relatives met at the home of
Mr. and Mrs.' Harold ,Johnston,
Morris Township, to extend best
wishes and• they presented' them
with a„ gift of money.
