Sister dies
Death occurred suddenly in
Goderich on Saturday, May 6, of
Miss Fanny Louise Simpson, in
her 54th year.
She was' born in Toronto, the
youngest daughter, of the late
James J. W. Simpson and the
former Fanny Brand. She came
to reside with her ,sister, Mrs.
Harry (Hazel) Bateman of Turn -
berry Township, who survives.
Surviving also is another sister,
Mrs. Carl (Audrey) Hansson of
Sundridge, Ontario.
Miss Simpson was a member of
St. James' Anglican , Church,
.Stratford. .
The funeral was held Tuesday
at the S. J. Walker Funeral Home
at,11 a.m. The officiating clergy-.
man was Rev. K. Hawthorn.
Graveside service and burial was
in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, To-
ronto at 3 p.m.

Leroy Burkhardt Bender of RR
1, Clifford, passed away in the
Wingham and District Hospital
on Sunday following an illness of
two weeks.
Born and educated in Wallace
Township, Mr. Bender was a son
of the late Burkhardt Bender and
Catherine Feick. He farmed in
Carrick Township until his retire-
ment five years ago..
He was a member.of the United
Church.
He is survived by his wife, the
former Norma Mae Foxton; one
daughter, Mrs. Garth (Patricia,•
Shirley) Postill; and three grand-
children.

The late Mr. fender rested at
the S. J. Walker Funeral Home in
Wingham until Wednesday, at 2
-p.m. when Rev. Eric Ledrew of
Brussels United Church, con-
ducted funeral service. Inter-
ment was in Fairview Cemetery,
Listowel.

Word was received here Mon-
day of the passing of a former
resident, Mrs. Murray Frieden-
burg of Kitchener- Mrs. Frieder -
burg died Sunday afternoon at
the Kitchener -Waterloo Hospital'
following a brief illness. She was
in her 43rd year.
The former Evelyn Treadway,
Mrs. Friedenburg' resided in
Wingham for eight years, during
'ch time her husband was a
m tuber of the local detachment
of Ontario Provincial Police.

vided quiet organ music.
MacPherson Funeral Chapel in
Teeswater was in• charge of ar
rangements and interment was in
Teeswater Cemetery. Pallbear

Rae, Hugh Armstrong, Doug
Kennedy, Alan Halliday and Ken
McDonald. Flower bearers *ere
four grandchildren, Sherry Anne
and Jackie Robertson and Alex
and Susan Wathke.
Mr. Stobo passed away Mon-
day, May 1, at the Wingham and
District Hospital following a
lengthy illness. He would have
'been 69 on Wednesday.
Born on the 6th concession of
Culross, he was a son of the late
John Hutchison
t S. D. A. A. Stobo and Elizabeth
t Spence; both his parents came
from Scotland. He farmed all his
life, on the 6th concession until
t 1938 when he moved to the. 2nd
concession to the farm formerly
_ owned by his wife's parents, Mr.
and Mrs. John Downing. '
He was a member of Knox
- Presbyterian Church in Tees -
water.
- His wife was the former Ger-
- . trude Downing and they were
married June 4, 1932. She prede-
ceased him in April of 1966.
He is survived. by three daugh-
• ters, Mrs, William K. • (Colleen)
Robertson of Morris Township;
Mrs. Donald., (Gloria) Dow of
East Wawanosh; Mrs. Stewart
(Lloye) Wathke of Sullivan
Township; Donald of Culross and
David of Teeswater; and eight
grandchildren.
Also surviving are,one brother,
J. Gordon Stobo of Teeswater and
three sisters, Mrs. James (Fran.
ces). Wraith of Lucknow, Mrs.
Duncan (Mary) 'Keith of RR 3,
Teeswater and Mrs. Nick (Liz-
zie) Michelbook of Menomonie,
Wisconsin. '
John McKinnon Hutchison
i)assed away in the Riverside
Convalescent Hospital, Toronto,
on May 3 in his 44th year.
He was the son of Mrs. John
Hutchison of Gorrie and the late
Mr. Hutchison and was born July
16, 1928 at Gorrie. He was a mem-
ber of the Gorrie United Church.
He attended Gorrie Public,
School and Wroxeter Continua-
tion School. After graduation he
entered the Bank of Commerce at
Wroxeter, Barrie, St. Catharines,
Chesley and Toronto, later join-
ing -the A. E. Le Page Ltd. Real
Estate. In 1970 Mr. Hutchison
oined the Royal Trust Real Es -
ate Co.
He leaves besides his mother;
Mrs. John Hutchison, one brother
Hugh at home; two nephews,
Larry and Kenneth Hutchison.
The funeral was held at the
Moir Funeral Home, Gorrie on
Saturday with Rev. George Sach
conducting the service. Flower -
bearers were Dale Edgar, Barry
Hutchison, Brian Robinson and
Donald Adams. Pallbearers were
Robert Edar, Ross Nuhn, Gr -
ham Jackson, John Edgar, Bill„
Nay, William Hutchison.
Burial was in Gorrie Cemetery.
Friends and relatives from a
distance attending the funeral
were from Toronto, Preston, Sar-
nia, Watford, Harriston, George-
town, Listowel and Fergus.
Belgrave native
James A. Ferguson of 49 Fifth
St., Chatham, died suddenly at
St. Joseph's Hospital, on Satur-
day, April 20. He was born at Bel -
grave 80 years ago, the son of the
late Andrew Ferguson and Eliza-
beth' McCurdy. He attended
Wingham High School and the
Business College in Wingham.
He joined the staff of the Bank
of Commerce where he was em-
ployed until he joined the Air
Force in 1916. After the war, he
worked for the Canada Life
'Assurance Company and was dis-
trict manager at Guelph until his
retirement. Since then he was
desk clerk in the Chatham Hotel.
Mr. Ferguson is survived by 1
one brother, Daniel, and one sis-
ter, Mrs. Norman Geddes, both of
Goderich. His wife, the former
Margaret Mulvey, and a brother,
Wilburn, predeceased him some
years ago.
The funeral service, conducted
by Rev. Allen Churchill, was held
at the Bowman Funeral Home in
Chatham and interment was in
the Brandon Cemetery, Bel -
grave. Rev. J. G. Roberts of the
United Church in Belgrave con-
ducted the graveside service.
