'Who con resist a boroain? Not many,of us,
I'm afraid. Somehow when we see rock- •
bottom price, all' our Common Sense t11es
out the window, even though we know that
a low price is not necessarily a good value.
Price should be only one of several con-
siderations when selecting a' product..Quol-
ity, variety, size in relation to use and
storage, packaging, cooking and serving con-
venience, and personal appeal are all im-
portant factors in choosing food.
A good indicator of value, I've fbund, is the
cost per serving" This tells you the cost of
the edible portion after ,all waste has been discarded. For example, at the same
prices' per pound, spore 'ribs would be three times as expensive as ground meat.
To help you figure out the cost per serving, I've prepared a listing of the number
"of servings per pound in the most commonly used foods. For your free copy,
drop me a line at LGA Consumer Corner,
