BLUEVALE — Neighbors and
friends of Mr. and Mrs. William
Elston gathered on Friday eve-
ning and surprised them by visit-
ing them in a group and present-
ing them with a gift to celebrate
their 25th wedding anniversary.
Mrs. Harvey Edgar read an
address of appreciation and Bert
Garniss and Bert Hastings pre-
sented a table and a table- orna-
ment.
The evening was spent in play-
ing cards, followed by a social
time and refreshments.

Easter meeting held by UCW
'BELGRAVE -- The Easter
meeting of the U.C.W. was held
on March 28th in the church base-
ment. The president, Mrs. James
Coultes opened the meeting by
reading a poem, "Easter".
"The Day of . Resurrection"
was sung and the minutes of the
last meeting were• read and
approved. The treasurer's report
was given. The correspondence
was- read which consisted of an
invitation from Blyth U.C.W. to
.attend their Easter Thankoffer-,
ing service on April 9th at 7:30
p.m., at which Mrs. Stewart Toll
of London will show pictures of
Africa. .
A letter was also read from the
supply secretary telling 'of the
allocation of articles :o be sent to
the Angola mission. It was
decided the supply committee
would look after purchasing .}nd
mailing these articles. It was
decided to send money for blan-
kets since the group is no longer
sending bales of used clothing.

BELGRAVE — The Women's
Institute's Easter meeting was
held in the community' centre
on March 21st. Twenty-three
members and four . visitors an-
swered the roll call by reciting an
Easter verse. •
Mrs. Ross Anderson of Bel -
grave was the speaker- using as
her' typic, "What Does Easter
Mean in Your Home?" She urged
the ladies to keep the religious
significance of Easter of the
utmost importance, not to let the
bunny become too important, but
to keep it as legend. ,
A quartet composed of Mrs.
Stan Hopper, Mrs. George ,Proc-
ter, Mrs. Glenn Coultes and. Mrs.
William Coultes rendered two.
vocal numbers.
Mrs. Leslie Bolt gave •• two
readings "Easter Sunday" and
"History Repeats".

vener of the meeting thanked
those who had participated in the
program:
The business was conducted by
the president, Mrs, Norman
Coultes. Minutes of the previous
meeting were read by -the secre-
tary-treasurer, Mrs. Stan Hop-
per, who also gave the financial
statement.
The annual meeting of the
branch will. be held April llth at
8:15 p.m.. and all conveners of
standing committees are asked to
submit their reports. •
Members were reminded of the
tour of the Listowel florist's the
evening of April 18th. A bus will
be hired for transportation.
Arrangements were completed
for, the dinner of U.C.O.,. Belgrave
branch for 100 men. It was moved
that a window be installed on the
north wall of the new kitchen
being presently built in the
Women's Institute Hall and it was
announced that a furnace is also
being installed: .
The members decided to have a
canvass of the community for
funds to assist in financing this
project which the Institute has
undertaken. The canvass will
take place the week of April 3 to 8
and canvassers, were appointed.
Lunch was served by Mrs.
Robert Purdon, Mrs. Norman
Coultes and•Mrs. Robert Higgins
•and a socia] hour was -enjoyed.

charge of the worship which she
opened with - a •call to: -worship
followed by the hymn, flfeneath
the Cross of Jesus". The:Worship '
was in the form of a dialogue,
"Christ Is Risen" with Mrs.
Walter Scott, Mrs. Leslie Bolt,
Mrs, Robert Hibberd and, Mrs,
Willard Armstrong. Mrs,SStanley
Cook then led m .prayer- ,and
closed the service with a hysacin. •
Mrs. Jack Higgins introduced:
the guest speaker, Mrs. .Jim
Ward from Wingham. The theme
of her inspiring massage was
."Because I live you shall live
also": These . were Words of
Jesus.
Mrs. Kenneth Wheeler thanked
Mrs. Ward and the meeting
closed with the benediction.

AUBURN — ,The fifth 'meeting:
was held at the home of Mrs.
John Hildebrand. The president,
Barbara Chamney opened the
meeting and the minutes were
read by the secretary, Cathy Mc-
Clinchey. The roll call was an-
swered by comparing prices of
their sleepwear to that of really-
males.
Mrs. Frank Raithby and Mrs.
Hildebrand demonstrated lap
seams and eyelet lace insertion.
Barbara Chamney prepared the
covers for the members and the
meeting closed with the creed.
At the sixth meeting held at the.
home of Mrs. Raithby, demon-
stration was on setting in sleeves
and reinforced seams, by Mr's.
John Hildebrand and Mrs. Frank
