UCW meeting BELMORE — The March meeting of the United Church Women was held at the home of Mrs. Bill Mulvey. Mrs. Wilfred Johann opened the meeting with a reading from. the "Upper Room" stressing the thought in Luke 9:51, followed by a hymn. Mrs. Harry Mulvey read the scripture verses from Luke 24: 1- 12. Mrs. Johann°read the article "What Easter Means to Me" from the Observer. A hymn was followed by another reading from the Observer by Mrs. Norman Newans. Mrs. Harry Mulvey gave as a study a talk on "Pollution and Its Control". The president, Mrs. John Rutherford was in charge of the business. There. was a dis- cussion on how to improve the floor of the church. It was agreed to send money to • the Mission and Service Fund and to the Presbyterial treasurer. A thankoffering meeting was planned for April and invitations will be sent to the McIntosh and the. Belmore Presbyterian Church ladies. ' The collection .was, received and the meetingclosed with prayer. Belmore William Jeffray of Toronto spent the holiday weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Jeffray. Harvey Darling, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alan Darling, is a patient in St: Joseph's . Hospital, London, where he underwent surgery this past week. Special services BLIJEVALE — A -special serv- ice was held in Knox Presby- terian Church on Good Friday evening' when members from Knox Church and from the United Church attended. Dennis Free- man, student minister of ' Toronto conducted- the service and Karel De Koeijer gave the sermon. Easter services were held In both churches on Sunday: Dennis Freeman preached in Knox Pres- byterian Church; with a special story for the children. The choir gave special selections. Mr. De Koeijer gave the Easter sermon in the United Church. A children's choir gave a number and led. the „singing. The museum guide was just finishing the tour: "And here, ladies and gentlemen; we have this imposing Greek statue. Note ' the noble way in which the neck supports the head, the splendid curve of the shoulders, and, es- pecially, the natural way in which the opened hand is out- stretched, utstretched, as if to emphasize, "Don't forget . to tip the guide." THIS ATTRACTIVE young lady is Marg Dowsan, a thera- pist at the Ontario Crippled Children's Centre. She's also a friend of Stephen 'Layton, Canada's 1972 "Timmy". When Timmy saw Marg could use a little help in trying out some signs for this year's annual "Walk-a-Thon" on Saturday, April 8, he gallantly lent a helping hand. Last year, local walks in various communities across Ontario raised more than $90,000 for crippled children. This year, being the 50th Anniversary of the Ontario Society for Crippled Children, Timmy and his friends are hoping to improve on that figure. As for Marg, we think her figure is just fine the way it is. Norman Hall of Aylmer visited with Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Hall on Saturday.
