The Observation Post BY THE OW GUNNER The General Military Train- ing summer course is now well underway. It is true- the num- ber on.course is most disappoint- ing, however, we have real quality in the eleven candidates who are undergoing the training. They have no illusions, no problems with haircuts, clean- liness, polishing of boots and that sort of thing. They are very keen and w i d e awake young men. The standard reached by the end of the first week has been very encourag- ing. Indications are the eleven will surely have their trade by Christmas and likely quality as Jr. NCO's in the springor early summer. Two,of the young candidates have volunteered for a cook's course to be run at -Cdn Forces School of Logistics, Base Borden; from August 2-29. They are . Gnr. John Schnurr and Robert Zippel of 97 Bty Walkerton. The only fly in the ointment Is vacancies for this course. There were only three positions on the course for Ontario Re- gion and thdre are over 60 units in Ontario Region. We are keeping our fingers crgssed that we shall get at least one.
