Mr. Gary Templeman
Wingham, Ontario.
Dear Sir:
We would like to thank your
organization for the reception
given our children at your Fish-
ing Derby on Sunday.
The children enjoyed them-
selves far beyond our expecta-
tions. They all spoke of the
wonderful people they met and
of the friendly manner with
which they were handled.
Your Association is to be
commended for their unselfish
efforts put forth for the less
fortunate in the area.
Once again we would like
to thank you all sincerely and
look forward to any future vent-
ures with which we might be
privileged to participate.•
Yours sincerely,
J. Fitzgerald.

Do you remember me telling
you that the CBC production of
"Scent of Flowers" was nomina-
ted for an In'temational Emmy
Award? Word has now reached
us, that the film has won in its
category, defeating productions
from Japan, Poland and Great
Britain. This is different from
the television Emmy Awards
that were presented early in
June; the ceremony presenting
theses awards has yet to be
held.
'Scent of, Flowers' was seen
last year on the Festival' series
It was produced' by the late
Melwyn Breen, and starred Mar-
tha Henry, a young suicide vic-
tim who saw her life in flash-
back. It is the second Canadi-
an fllnl to be honored with this
award; the first was " Barber of
Seville" in 1965.

Another honor has come to
Canada, with the announce-
ment that author Arthur Hailey
has won the gold medal of the
Commonwealth Club of Cali-
fornia, for his fictional book
"Airport". Hailey is a former
Canadian who' now lives and
works in California. " Airport"
was written in 1968, and is fol-
lowing on the heels of his other
books ("Hotel " was made into
abtovie a few years' ago.) to .
attain great heights of success.
