Kin pick strong line-up to meet Old Timers in mid -winter carnival game Kin Elwood Irwin has gather- ed together a fine collection of Kinsmen to battle the Oldtimers, Rumors have it that Bruce Ma- ch= is going to don the goal pads but don't be surprised if you hear that,Elweod signs up one of the 01dtirhers' goalies. We understand he is dickering with Oldtimers coach Alf Lock - ridge to get the services of Bob Sangster. • Thej Kinsmen have a STRONG, , -STRONG 'defence pair in John Strong Jr. and Alex Strong. This will be a true test of how, strong are the Strongs. One forward line is bound to cagy lots of weight. Just add tip -the poundage of Herb Wat- son, Mac Ritchie and Elwood Irwin. Herb comes from .the Orangeville area and will prob- ably draw the assignment of shadOwing Wilf Seli, Mac Ritch- ie comes with lots of exper- ience,: having played with the Mildrnay Monarchs, all -Ontario 'champions for many years. We understand Elwood Irwin i11 be • going all out in this one, first of all in an attempt to win that side, bet on the outcome of the • game with Alf Lockridge and Elwood will also be trying to score goal 500 of his career. Hc was a mite disappointed when he was held scoreless in the In- tetmediate's last scheduled ,game against Listowel.. Fred Templeman must have heard Gordie Howe stating that he hopes to play in an all-star game with his sons, so this is one first Fred is going to take away from the Great Gordie. Fred and sons Monty and Paul will form one of the Kinsmen forward lines and will probably be facing the Stainton Brothers' line. Extra strength is added at the blue line in that strong defensive pair, JimBain, with the zoom- • ing slap shot and partner Gord JERRY'S TAXI LONG OR SHORT DISTANCE DAY OR NIGHT PHONE 52874267 LUCKNOW - • ONT. 20-276-13p Two trophies Won at Country Curlers' spiel Sixteen rinks from Teeswa- ter, Ripley, Lucknow, Amber - ley, Goderich, Seaforth, Brus- sels, .Belgrave and Wingham competed at the Country Curl- ing Club bonspiel on Wednes- day of last week. Young legs have been • added to. the defence with the acquisition of Bill Dauphin, dourt- sey Honest John. Be sure to watch thatspecial trigger man, Barry "Muldoon" Pryfeigle.- 'He'rutually good for one•or two points per game. Oldtimers. beware. This looks like a real strong team with a ,combination of youth and ex- perience; lots of muscle and excess weight. • • , It looks like both teams are out to win this one. But win orlose we're sure the crowd will be treated to some fine hockey., likely lots of. laughs - and a real good time. Don't miss this game. Be sure to be •out early to get a good seat.
