Bain spectacular
Last Saturday was a cold
windy night but the fans who
braved theelements were treat-
ed to the best game of the sea-
son as the Sports handed the
high -flying Milverton team
their third loss of the season,
two of these losses :coming from
the'sticks of the local team.
Wingham hit early, the first
goal scored at the 50 second
mark. It was a quick one with
perfect timing as Ross Peacock
won a faceoff to die left of the
Milverton net, fed a pass, to
Jim Bain, just inside' the. blue
line and Jim fired a blistering
shot into the corner on the goal-
ie's stick side --a perfect shot,
a real bomb!
At 8.24 Wingham went two
ahead. Elwood Irwin intercept-
ed a Milverton pass, flew over
the blue line and flipped the
puck into the corner on the
stick side which"seemed to catch:
Milverton goaliw-'a little by ' .
surprise. Milverton'1i-it the
score sheet at 15.45 as YC e r ,
beat Sutton from close range
with a strong back hand shot.

make a two en one rush but
such was. •the case on this goal.
John carried the puck over the
blue line drawing the defence -
men after him and then fed a
perfect pass to Jim Bain who
walked irJ alone and drilled one
into the top corner --a perfect
shot. Milverton scored at 18.49
on a solo effort by Ly°le.Leis.
In the,dying seconds of the
period Wingham goalie Sutton
was struck just above1the eye
by a hard shot from the stick of
Murray. Kerr from just outside
the blue line. The puck seem-
ed to take a sharp dip hitting
Gary full blast. Score end of

Sutton outstanding
On Sunday the Sports travel-

noon game and it was apparent
the, Milverton team was out to
revenge the loss suffered at the
hands of the locals the previous
night.' Milverton had a good
crowd on hand to back their
team and they weren't disap-
pointed.
The first period was fast
skating, hard checking hockey
with the only goal scored by
Milverton's Murray Kerr on a
three way passing play with as-
sists going to Erb and Bundscho:.
Only three penalties were call-
ed, one to Wingham and two to
Milverton despite a very rough
period of hockey. W ingliam
stayed in the garhe only by
some superb goal tending by
Gary. Sutton who stopped shot
after shot.

swered goals in 'the. second per-
iod, the first scored by Murray
Kerr from Kipfer and Erb at 23
seconds; the second by Erb from

sentence to-Milvertori's Murray
Kerr for butt ending Wingham's
Doug Neil.

Ross Schlotzhauer's'bid for a
shut -out at the 14.48 minute
mark as Ken Houston from his
wrong wing blasted a bomb into
the upper right hand corner of
th'`het'with assists going to
Ross Peacock and Jim'Bain. At
the Mid mark of the peliod
coach C'erson wisely decided to
give goalie Sutton a well earn-
ed rest and Bill Crawford took
over and played a good game,
making many fine stops. Mil-
verton added two goals with
Erb getting his second goal of
the game at 16.06, with assist
to Ron Steckley and the final
goal of, the game was scored
by Riph'ard Harrow at 18.22.

though ' Milverton took 10 of the
14 penalties handed out, the

everyone crossing the blue line
... Doug Neil came out of the
game on the limp... Hardest '
check was 'handed out by Ken
Henry to Milverton's Murray
Kerr with five minutes left in
