to attend the Assembly to
be held in Chatham this

Hensall United Church;
_Sunday. November - 16
with Dr. Allen Knights as
the guest speaker. Rev.
Stanley McDonald
conducted the service.
Dr. Knight spoke first
to the children, telling
them how to say "Hello"
in African and showing
them a native dog bell, a
barkcloth blanket,
embroidered hangings, a
paddle for mixing food
and a school scribbler
made from labels off
cans.
-More facts about life in
Zaire, especially among
Angolan refugees, were
recounted by Dr. Knight
during the sermon time.
He took as his text "For
the Love of God Controls
Constraineth Us". °He
said that as an
agriculturalist he had
been used by God to do
something for Christ.
Afternoon Unit

The members of the Ontario Street United
Church Women's Afternoon Unit met in the
church parlor on November 4 with .leader Ger-
trude Feagan in charge. The devotional exer-
cises were headed by Bernice Brown, who was
assisted by Lorna Radford at the piano, Leila
Webster and Grace Forbes, the theme being
Life's Pattern. Mrs. Radford played piano
selections.
Evelyn Olde entertained all present with a
travelogue on a trip to the Canadian- Western
Arctic which she and her husband had been
privileged to take in June 1980. Her talk Was
illustrated with slide pictures which portrayed
the beauty of the far North, and the scenic
beauty of British Columbia as they travelled
down the west coast of Canada. "See Canada
First" is a good slogan.
Marion Powell announced that a quilt had been
presented to a family whose home had recently
been destroyed by fire. Final arrangements
were made for the Bazaar Festival. At the
general meeting to be held November 18, an
introduction to the new Mission Study book will
be presented.
The meeting closed with prayer offered by
Gertrude Feagan, followed with a social hour
headed by Lula Merrill and her group.

One of the additions is an
enthusiastic young
teacher named Miss
McPherson.
She lives in Hensall and
drives to Clinton
everyday where she is
teaching a Grade 5 class
fulltime.
Miss McPherson has
had a background in
teaching before as a
supply teacher in

A trip across Canada,
from sunrise to sunset,'
was enjoyed last
Saturday evening,
November 15 in Knox
United Church sponsored
by the Couples Club.
The evening began with
a welcome by Rick
Hawley and and every -one
joined in singing This
Land is Your Land with
Mrs. Gfeg Park at the
piano.
Harvey Wightman of
Waterloo presented an
arm -chair trip across
Canada with slides he had
taken. At intermission
Mrs. Rick Hawley and
Mrs. Greg Park led
everyone in a sing -song of
Canadian songs. -
