Brownies Shelley Bonte-Oelok laid the wreath and Kathy Low carried the flag for the Vanastra Brownies in the Remembrance Day Parade on Nov. 11. For the next two meetings, the Brownies will be working on itemstfor the Christmas Bazaar on Saturday, Nov. 22. All parents and friends are invited to attend Guides Last Wednesday evening, three Guides - Karen Ann Goni, Tina. Jeffrey and. Teresa Morrison served at the Lions Dinner meeting as a service project. Teresa Morrison placed the wreath for the Guides as part of the Remembrance Day Parade. (James Fit- zgerald photo) Try curling this year On Monday, November 10 the ladies officially' launched the 1980-81 curling season. The ladies meet every Monday afternoon at 1:15 p.m. with all four ices filled. For any in- formation, please call Doris Cantelon at 482- 3262. The men's curling is on Monday evenings and by the -looks of things there are enough interested men to fill the_7 p.m. and 9 p.m. draws. For any information please call Stu Wilson at 527-0687. Mixed curling takes place on Thursday evening at 8 p.m.'and all ices are filled but you may , call Stu Wilson for any in- formation. Friday mixed curling is also filled but Ron Sellers at 482'x"56 will take any calls for spares. Com- petitive curling is something new this year and they will meet on Wednesday evenings. This is for men's, ladies' mixed and junior teams. Please call Ron Sellers at the above number if you are interested in joining. There are many openings for this par- ticular evening. The curling club phone number is 482-3055. School plans for Christmas Things are already underway at the school- in preparation for the Goderich Santa Claus parade. Plans have been finalized 'and con- struction of 'our float will soon begin. All of our pupils have been encouraged to get involved in this very ambitious undertaking. We may even enter this float in the Clinton parade. On Monday, November 10 a Remembrance Day assembly was held at the school. This short presentation was designed to make the children think a little bit and to be thankful for the sacrifices that were made on their behalf. The following week, private interviews will be scheduled at the _s_chool. Come Alive! Come Alive has started and on Tuesday evenings is for the girls and smaller boys and Thursday evenings, is for the older boys ages' 9 years and older. Times are from 7:30-8:30 p.m. Next Sunday at the morning service special music by the Clinton and neighbouring church choir will be featured. A nursery is provided. Ularence Heida, an elder from the Stratford Church and Peter Mantel are visiting the families of .-the church. Sunday School is getting a good turnout at 10 a.m. with church following at 11 a.m. All are invited. Trudy Laws and Shannon Mellor represented the Vanastra Public School at the memorial service in Clinton. They placed our wreath at the cenotaph. This wreath was paid for by the children at the school. On Wednesday, November 12 members of our school choir were Personal glimpses Peter and Evelyn Mantel will celebrate their 25th wedding an- niversary on Saturday, November 22 with an open house at the Rec Centre from 7-9 p.m. Welcome home and speedy recovery to Jeff Dixon after his stay in hospital this past week in London. Did you know that it i' only six weeks til Christmas? Middleton hears Rev. Pitts By Blanche Deeves Rev. D.C. Pitts led the morning prayer service at St. James Anglican Church on Sunday and Ray Wise read the Remembrance Day lesson. ' The flowers in the church were placed by Blanche beeves and James Storey and Mr. Wise received the offering. The fall session of the Synod of the Diocese of Huron will be held on November 15 at Althouse College in London. John Deeves was chosen to represent St. James and the Synod which will deal with the finances of the Diocese. The St. James ACW will meet on November 13 at Vera Miller's home. The penny savers supper will begin at 7 pm and it is hoped that all the penny savers will come out to enjoy the meal and meeting. - The Goderich Township Enterprising Seniors welcome everyone over 60 -year-old to join them at their meeting on November 20, at 2 pm in the new township hall in Holmesville. Tom Salked of Lucknow and his daughter Dr. Helen Salked of Ottawa, Mrs. Mary Boyle of Lucknow and Miss Izzy Creelman of Ottawa visited on Sunday with Mrs. Fred Middleton. Visitors with Alvin and Delores Dutot on the weekend were Mr. and Mrs. Bill Hulls and children Jason and Jonathon of Cornwal and Delores' sister, Mary Atwood of Detroit, Michigan. o ' John, Edward and Blanche Deeves attended the Remembrance Day service with the Clinton Royal Canadian Legion Branch 140 on Sunday with the service at St. Paul's Anglican Church in Clinton.
