Aimells meet in Mitchell The UCW Aimwell Unit .met at the Rescource Centre in Mitchell for their September 15 meeting and had the Berean Unit as their guests. Leader Florence Cartwright welcomed everyone and the roll call was answered by nine members and 11 visitors and the minutes of the June and August mleeting, were-. read by secretary June Fothergill•. The quilt put together by Vi Burns was on display and Audrey Thompson will buy the lining as the quilted will be worked' as soon as possible. It was announced that the October 20, meeting will be held at the home of Marion Hunking and Cathy McDougall will be in charge -of the`program. Mrs. Fothergill and Lena Nesbitt will look after the _lunch. Mrs. McDougall gave the treasurer's report and Joan Whyte and Ferne McClure were , in charge of the program. Mrs. Whyte gave readings and .Betty Hulley and Mrs. Thompson gave some Bible readings. Tom Mantle, a volunteer worker at the` Resource Centre spoke to the ladies and showed a film on family life in South Africa. The Berean Unit leader, Helen Lawson thanked the Aimwell Unit for their hospitality. Cheerios help Terry The Cheerio Club will be doing their part to raise money for Terry Fox's Marathon of Hope. On a motion presented by Myrtle Fairservice, the club agreed to hold a plant auction at their October meeting to raise money for cancer research. Group 2 will be in charge of the meeting. The Cheerios held their monthly meeting on September 17 at Dora Shobbrook's home. Laura -Lyon took the president's chair and opened' the meeting with a reading. The roll call was an- swered by 12 members- and two visitors, Hattie Wood and Audrey Thompson. Thanks you notes were received from Bert Shobbrook and Keith Vivian. Mrs. Shobbrook began the program with a reading and Stella Adams also gave a reading. Mrs. Shobbrook organized contests and their were won by Mrs. Wood, Ida Durnin and Mrs. Adams. A few hands of cards were played and' lunch was served by Mrs. Lyon, Mrs. Adams and Mrs. Shobbrook. Smile A swinger we know assured me the other day that he has no trouble leapink out of bed on the weekends, as soon as the first ray of sunshine enters his window.
