This will. remind everyone of the thanks they owe for the blessings of family, life. The pictures will be displayed with nature's bounty and older photographs will be e much appreciated and very interesting. Camera bug contest The Ausable-Bayfield Conservation Authority is now sponsoring an amateur photo contest for interested elementary and high school students within the Authority's watershed area. Photos submitted must be colour, 3 by 5 prints (mounted on a 10 by 12. cardboard background) that reflects on the theme "Conservation for Beautification" and should be taken within one of the 11 Conservation Areas maintained by the Ausable-Bayfield Con- servation Authorities. The winning photo will become the cover of an Authority Conservation Areas Brochure, which will be distributed at all major tourist information centers in spthwestern Ontario. The wiener will also receive a Polaroid instamatic camera. Second•.and third place winners will also 'have their. .photographs in- corpoated into the broth re with.the second place inisher receiving a book related to Con- servation and the third place contestant awarded a Season's Pass to all Ausable-Bayfield Con - se r v a tion on-servation Authority Conservation Areas. Going batty ZURICH - Anyone who's nervous of flying, nightime creatures in a dark, vacant house is staying clear of a Zurich residence. The home, located in the western end of the village has gone batty. Zurich council learned about the problem at a recent meetin&. Clerk Sharon Baker reported that an empty home in the village contained severalnight-flyers and building inspector Harvey ClausiUs counted 146 bats on a visit to the home. Courici.l agreed to send a letter to the house's owner stating that the bats must be removed under the ministry , of housing's health and safety code. Photos will be judged by their pertinence to the theme, their suitability for the brochure, and their timeliness and originality. Students of the Ausable-Bayfield Conservation Authority watershed are en- couraged to check the posters in their respec- tive schools or call the Authority Head - Office in Exeter for more details. The former Edith Middleton and Adolph Sandusky of Alliston were visitors with Marion and Fran powell and dinner guests with . Ross and Mabel Middlgeton. --Weekend—guests- with Alvin and Delores Dutot were Bill and Arlene, Jason and Jonathon Hulls of Cornwall. Sympathy is extended to Delores Dutot and her family on the death of her brother Jim Atwood of Florida. Huron Centennial. promotes fitness Friday, September 27 is the first Professional Development Day for Huron County. The teachers of Huron Cen ennial will leave the school at 4 p.m. Thursday. hat evening from 7-9 Board Policy and Procedures will be discussed. Friday will be spent discussing t pits which will benefit all of LIS in the future. The older students are continuing the year-round physical conditioning . program. Those sessions take place at noon hour and after school. • - The young athletes should be in top condition for the October soccer tournament and cross country races. The library is well into operation with close to 2,500 books having gone into circulation in the first three weeks of school. Preschool Story Hour will be underway once more, beginning Wednesday, October 1st at 2:15 p.m. The hour includes, stories, crafts, games.
