Speaker for the evening was Robert Plumsteel of Seaforth, who showed interesting slides and commented on interior decorating. Roll call was answered. by giving a personal experience regarding floor coverings. Mrs. Vern Alderdice _gave- a- poem.. and Mrs:... Drummond, president, opened the meeting with. a poem and gifts were presented to the club leaders for the summer 4- H club. Eileen Connolly who is sponsored by Kippen East at Seaforth Fair contest, spoke on 'Acid Rain'. Mrs. Dave Triebner conducted a contest. Mrs. Ross ' Broadfoot gave current events and courtesy rem arks . Mrs. Robert Kinsman and Mrs. Wm. McDowell served Lunch. Personals Mr. and Mrs. W.L. Mellis and Mr. and Mrs. Jack McGee of Blyth visited with Mrs. Margaret Hutchison in St. Thomas last week. Mrs. Ruth Dickert who has been visiting her' sister, Mrs. Norman Dickert has returned to Harriston accompanied by Mrs. N. Dickert. Mr. and Mrs. Stewart ' McLean of Lac Du Connet, Manitoba visited with Kippen friends during thepastweek. Tom Reid has sold his home on Highway'4 and Mr. and Mrs. Reid are going to reside in Cor- nwall. Congratulations to Darrin Faber who achieved two firsts for his sheep at Seaforth Fall Fair. Kippen Gun Club Kippen Gun Club September 16 meet saw 12 shooters participating. Jack Mills had 25, John Anderson shot 24 and Lloyd Venner and Bert Mahaffy each had 22. Mery Batkin, Bob Caldwell, Bob Baker all ,had 21, Gladys McGregor, Wayne McBride, Jamie Caldwell all had 19. Also shooting were Terry Mann and Dennis McBride. All rainbow must be legally caught in the Bayfield River during the contest, First prize is a cup and. $400 cash for the heaviest rainbow. Second is, $200 for the next heaviest and third is $100 for the 3rd heaviest rainbow. Valuable merchandise prizes . will also be awarded in several other categories. I A big bonus with your Curling group meets There were no ends ,played or rocks thrown, but the executive corn- mittee of the Bayfield Curling Club held their organizational meeting last Monday evening at the Turner residence. The 1980-81 executive, president, Grant Turner; vice-pres., Barb Sturgeon; sec.-iTreas., Ede Turner and direc- tors, Bob Orr, Joe Brandon and Paul Oosse were in attendance. The bajlots for 'skip `and vice skip' were tallied in preparation for the upcoming curling season, which is ten- tatively set for mid- November. A general meeting for all curlers has been set for Sunday, October 4, at the Municipal Building at 2 p.m. Any person who curled last season, .anc4 wishes to continue again this year, is asked to call Ede Turner ;at 565-2709 if they are unable to attend the upcoming meeting. Any new curlers who wish to -join but are unable to attend the meeting,—are-•.also-asked--- to call Ede Turner and leave their names. One of the prime ob- jectives of the general meeting is to set-up the' teams for the 80-81 season, so please attend if possible. The Bayfield Curling Club features `mixed curling' throughout the winter, usually on Sunday and Monday evenings and new curlers (with or without experience) are welcome to join. registration entitles you to three free days of camping (if you wish) in Rainbow Valley Camp. You can also save $5 by registering before October 5. Local mert chants or Rainbow Valley Camp will be pleased to accept your registration.
