Flewitt A Stanley Township-- native, o!I n hip --native, Gladys Mabel Isabella Flewitt died in a Kitchener hospital on September 18, She was, 71 years old. Mrs. Flewitt was born on September 28, 1908 in Stanley to Joseph and Esther Shipley. She was a , iife-tir ne. resident of the arca and was married to Samuel `Flewitt in Clinton. The.coupie lived at RR 3, Clinton and later moved to a King Street home in Clinton. Mrs. Flewitt was a member of the Wesley -Willis United Church. She is predeceased by her husband and is sprvived by three children, Iris Esther of Stratford, Mrs. Grace (Morgan) Strassburger of Kitchener and George. of Garson (Sudbury). Mrs. Flewitt is also survived by five gran- dchildren and two sisters Mrs.. Marion (Barrett) Taylor and Mrs. Norman (Clifford) Ashton, both of Clinton. Funeral serives were held at the Ball Funeral Home in Clinton on September 21 with Rev. John Oestreicher of- ficiating. Interment followed in Baird's Cern etery in Stanley Townsh' p . The allbearers ' were Fred Fle itt of Stratford, Don Forbes of Clinton, Don Taylor of RR 3, Clinton, Wayne Stirling of Brueefield, Bob Cole of RR 3, Clinton and Tom Rathwell of RR 3, Clin- ton. The flowerbearers were Steve, 'off and Scott Strassburger, all of Kitchener, lames Ernest Crich •A Tuckersmith native and life -time area resident, James Ernest Cricl, died in his Ontario Stree'`t``Ii Yine in Clinton on September 13. He was 74 years old. A former farmer in Our Tuckersmith Township, Mr. Crich was born in the E township on June 1, 1906 to Gifford and Maude Crich. Mr. Crich attended ---sehoel-at SS-4an✓d- wor-ked- in the township until 1971 when he retired to Clinton. He was a member of Turner's United Chruch and later became a member of the Ontario Street United Church in Clinton where he also was an honorary elder. Mr. Crich was married in Clinton on June 27, 1929 to the former Vera Gould. He is survived by his wife and one daughter Mrs. Mildred (Orval) Beam of RR 1, Port Colborne. Three grandchildren also survive. Rev. Norman Pick led funeral services for the late r. Cricks at the Ball Fun ra1 Honkie on Sep- temb r 16. Interment followed in the Clinton Cemetery.. The pallbearers were Stanley Johns of RR 4, Seaforth, George Turner of RR 4, Seaforth, Robert Lawson of RR 5, Clinton, Tony Vandendool of RR 4, Clinton, Philip White ofi Clinton and Harold Squire, 'alsoof Clinton. Mr. & Mrs. Ivan Luther Wed in Clinton The Ontario Street United Church, Clinton, was the setting for a double ring ceremony when Bonnie East ,and Ivan Luther exchanged marriage vows on August 2, 1980. Bonnie is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold East, Clinton. Ivan is the son of Mrs. Greta Luther, and the late Manford Luther, Grand Bend. Maid of honor was Nancy McKenzie, friend of the bride, and the best man was Terry Luther, Calgary, son of the groom . • Steve Caan, Exeter, sang the Hawaiian Wedding Song, accompanied by his sister, Annette Caan, also of Exeter. Ushers were Larry East of Clinton, brother of the bride, arid Lorne Luther of Grand Bend, brother of the groom.. Following an open reception the couple honeymooned, in Nor- thern Ontario» and are now residing at River- view Estates, Exeter. Guests were present - from Kenora, London, Brussels, Clinton, Grand Bend and surrounding ,..,SMITH—STOREY Bonnie Darlene Storey, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Storey of R.R. 1 Seaforth and Bob Wayne Smith, Son of the late Mary Agnes and Thoihas Sniith Sr., Stratford, were married in Cavan United Church, Winthrop on July 11, 1980 at 7 p.m. when Rev. J. Vanslyke officiated at the double -ring ceremony.. The maid of honour was Judy Dorsey, bridesmaids were Jane Schade, Barb Storey of Seaforth and Holly Smith of Kitchener. The groomsman was Tom Smith of Kitchener and ushers were Art Brown of Stratford and Ray Storey of Seaforth The organist was Mrs. Joe Storey of R.R. 3 Clinton. A reception was held at Blyth. In '.Mrs, Luther's absence Sunday evening, Cecil Skinner did a very good job of filling in giving a message and leading the congregation in a sing song. Cecil and Elsie Henderson played some violin and organ duets. Mrs. Bean, Mrs. Leybourne, Alma Kelly, Myrtle McNaughton, Olive Straughan, Mary Neil and Elizabeth Hill enjoyed a van ride Monday morning to Summerhill, Auburn, Blyth and home. Tuesday afternoon, a canvass for the blind was made throughout r -the hom e. Mrs . Lockhart MC'd•the September birthday party which was held in the auditorium ' 4on Wfiglogsday afternoon. Among the entertainers were Lorna Radford playing the piano: Mrs. Kormuth showing some interesting pictures on slides; Mr. Knott. Mrs. Van Egmond, and Mr. Hodges playing some good toe tapping music. After the birthday gifts were distributed, the Blyth ladies helped serve cupcakes which were made by the residents and tea. Gertrude Cornell who was one of the residents celebrating a birthday this month thanked everyone con- cerned with putting on the party. Baking cupcakes this week were Tina McN,aughton, Muriel Gibson, Bill Marsh, Tommy Clark and Della Overholt. Huronview will mourn the passing of Benjamin King. For entertainment each lady told highlights from her summer and the travelers and the ones who remained near home all had a happy time. Florence Oliver and Billie Stewart were in charge of the worship and chose, A New Beginning as their theme. Chairman Mary Murch conducted the business and minutes of the June meeting were read by Helen Davies. The treasurers report was given by Marg Cole. Pennies and the offering were collected and Mrs. Murch reminded everyone that the penny contest ends at the October meeting. Social convener Mrs. Oliver reported three luncheons had been catered. for during the summer. Mary Jamieson reported 24 . home calls and 37 hospital calls had been made through July and August. ". A short business meeting was held, after which Mrs. Jean Cox was introduced as the speaker of the evening. Mrs. Cox gave a very interesting talk on a recent visit to the Holy Land, which was ,very much appreciated. A very nice lunch w s prepared and served y Mrs. Jane Groves a d Mrs. Arlene Strickland. Lois Wilson, the new United Church moderator; Pauline McGibbon, the former Lieutenant Governor and Canada's First Lady, Lily Schreyer were studied by the 16 UCW members at the meeting. Annie Betties read the scripture and the roll call asked members to name a woman from the Bible. Various reports were given and two birthdays were celebrated for Clete McGregor and Jean Livermore. The ladies were reminded that the Regional - Presbyterial meeting will be held on October 6 in Bayfield. The meeting will begin at 6:30 pm with dessert and the meeting will follow.
