two courses
It looks like Latin 350
won't be offered at South
11Uron, District High
School : in Exeter this
year, nor will English 551
be taught, at Central..
fluronl, in Clinton.
The two subjects were
dropped because of low
enrollment , however,
students may still have a
chance to pick up those
credits this year. The
courses will be offered at
night school , if enough
students (10) ask for it.

Nursery goals
help children
The first meeting of the
1980-81 Clinton nursery
school year was an
orientation and work
party, held Monday,
September 15th.
President, Jean Bir-
cham opened.t a meeting
by welcoming those
present and introducing
the executive.
The teacher, Sally
McNichol, gave a short
talk about how the nur-
sery school is run and its
main goals. She pointed
out that the Clinton school
is a co-operative, run by
the combined effort of the
parents and teachers.
,The main goal of the
nursery school is to assist
the development of the
children in fivemain
areas: "mental•; -physical,
ernotibiral, social and
creative.
Each activity in which
the children participate
has a purpose, and
promotes the growth and
development of the
children in one or more of
these areas.
They would welcome
more children to the
afternoon classes of the
nursery school program.
If you are interested in
enrolling your child,
please contact Louise
Gibbings 482-9400 or Jean
Bircham 482-7817.
The next meeting, to be
held in October, will be a
short meeting, followed
by a demonstration of
child play products.

BRUSSELS - The
Brussels Public School
cross country team is
presently preparing for a
meet later this month. In
an effort to encourage the
students to run and to
become more fit, they
have decided to attempt
to run across Canada, a
distance of 7,593 km.
The team will follow
the route from Brussels
to Victoria, B.C., they
will fly via private jet to
St. John's, Newfoundland
and continue their run
and finish in Brussels.
Naturally it is not
possible for the students
to actually run this route.
They will total the
distance run by the team
each day and plot this
distance on a map, so it
becomes a team effort
more than an individual
one.
When the run is com-
pleted, each member of
the team will receive an
arm band and a badge
stating how far they ran.
The team, which in-
cludes 60 students, has
decided to dedicate their
attempt to Terry Fox an
cancer research. Fc
