Fire hits
high school
SEAFORTH - ' An
estimated $65,000 to
$70,000 damage was
caused to Seaforth
strict High School
following a July 22 fire.
According to the
Ontario Fire Marshal's
office, the early morning
blaze was either started
from an overheated piece
of office equipment or a
defective extension cord.
The - bla-ze • _lined one
room, causing ap-
proximately $10,000
damage to equipment.
Timetables, handbooks
and other paperwork
prepared for the up-
coming school year were
destroyed. Other parts of
the building received
extensive smoke, heat
and water damage,
Man drowns
GODERICH - A Port
Albert man drowned in
Lake Huron on July 20
while swimming with a
friend at Port Albert.
Terry---Ren-al-d-- Berlet;
19, of Port Albert
disappeared off the
beach, located north of
Goderich about 7 pm on
July 20. The OPP divers
from Tobermory and
Owen Sound,. were: called
to the scene, but the body
wasn't recovered until
the next morning.
