TIPS on how to lay sheet -vinyl
Most cushioned vinyls are available in Q• , 9- and 12 -foot
widths. Seaming is only necessary in rooms wider thah
the width of your vinyl.
To accomplish this, match the pattern across the seam
by overlapping the second piece. .of vinyl along the
seam edge. Be sure to allow enough material in length
and width to match the pattern. After matching patterns,
use weights or tape to prevent shifting, Now, cut the
vinyl -to tit st -the walls,- -allow,,Egt up -to Y. -inch-pleafnde
at all edges, •
Next, using a metal .straightedge, cut through both
pieces in the overlapped area with a sharp knife As' you
cut, keep the knife vertical — do.not lean it right or left.
Remove the cut off strips both top and bottom. Now
you can apply adhesive on the undersides at the seam
Proper installation requires that you remove all base-
boards and mouldings before laying vinyl flooring. The
clearance of up to '/4 -inch you left at all walls will be
covered up once the baseboards and mouldings are
put back in place
Also, clearance must_be allowed between the vinyl and
the moulding to permit the walls and -floors ld move
withbut affecting the flooring. Nail any baseboards or
mouldings to the wall (not the floor) and use a thin piece
of cardboard between the flooring and the moulding to
achieve proper clearance
