Treated: natural stones
with value increased. by
chemical coloring, heat

colors, radiation in which

Imitation: look -similar
gems with different
compositions, as "paste"
diamonds. Real gem-
stones have no air bub-
bles. Doublets: a sand-
wiched stone. crown may
be a shallow diamond
glued at the girdle to a
pavilion of diamond,
quartz or glass. The
doublets are both gem-
sto1 es, while false ones
may open an area for
fraud.
